Homelessness is the condition of people without a regular dwelling. People who are homeless are most often unable to acquire and maintain regular, safe, secure and adequate housing, or lack "fixed, regular, and adequate night-time residence. The legal definition of homeless varies from country to country, or among different jurisdictions in the same country or region. The term homeless may also include people whose primary night-time residence is in a homeless shelter, a warming center, a domestic violence shelter, a vehicle (including recreational vehicles and campers), squatting, cardboard boxes, a tent, tarpaulins, or other ad hoc housing situations. Homeless is a group of people that does not afford to buy houses. This happens because of low of job opportunity and comes from people who do not have enough income to find for houses. While the last few years have seen growth in real wages at all levels, these increases have not been enough to counteract a long pattern of stagnant and declining wages. Low-wage workers have been particularly hard hit by wage trends and have been left behind as the disparity between rich and poor has mushroomed. To compound the problem, the real value of the minimum wage in 2004 was 26% less than in 1979 (The Economic Policy Institute, 2005). Many studies (for example, SSWR, 2008) found that homelessness and problem gambling are serious social concerns. Like substance abusers, many problem gamblers experience serious adverse consequences leading to loss of jobs, families, and, ultimately, housing. This is substantiated by findings from this study.

The sun produces an unbelievable amount of energy that reaches the earth. The amount of energy that is absorbed by the earth in one hour is more energy than mankind uses in one year. The total amount of solar energy reaching the earth in one year is huge - twice as much energy as ever existed from all sources of coal, oil, natural gas, and uranium combined. The sun strikes the surface of the earth at different angles ranging from 0 degrees (no sun) at the poles to 90 degrees at the equator during spring and fall. At the equator during noon time, the earth's surface gets the maximum amount of energy. As one moves away from the equator, the sun's rays have to travel longer through the atmosphere. Along the way some rays are reflected into space or scattered by clouds causing loss of energy as they go. On average, about 50% of the sun's energy makes it through the atmosphere and strikes the earth. The tilt in the earth's axis of rotation also causes variations in the amount of sunshine received. The north pole receives little sunshine in the winter months and likewise the south pole receives little in the summer months. So the amount of solar energy that reaches any given location varies by latitude, time of year, time of day, and local weather.
