และเราได้กล่าว่า โอ้ อาดัม ! เจ้าและคู่ครองของเจ้าจงพำนักอยู่ในสวนสวรรค์นั้นเถิดและเจ้าทั้งสองจงบริโภคจากสวนนั้นอย่างกล้างขวาง ณ ที่ที่เจ้าทั้งสองปรารถนา และอย่าเข้าใกล้ต้นไม้ต้นนี้ (มิเช่นนั้นแล้ว) เจ้าทั้งสองจะกลายเป็นผู้อธรรมแก่ตัวเอง
and we said, 'adam, dwell thou, and thy wife, in the garden, and eat thereof easefully where you desire; but draw not nigh this tree, lest you be evildoers.'
พระองค์ตรัสว่า โอ้อาดัม! จงบอกบรรดาชื่อของสิ่งเหล่านั้นแก่พวกเขาที (บรดามะลาอิกะฮฺ) ครั้นเมื่ออาดัมได้บอกชื่อของสิ่งเหล่านั้นแก่พวกเขาแล้ว พระองค์จึงตรัสว่า ข้ามิได้บอกแก่พวกเจ้าดอกหรือว่า แท้จริงข้าเป็นผู้รู้ยิ่งซึ่งความเร้นลับแห่งชั้นฟ้าทั้งหลายและแผ่นดินและเป็นผู้รู้ยิ่งในสิ่งที่พวกเจ้าเปิดเผยและสิ่งที่พวกเจ้าปกปิด
allah said: o adam! declare thou unto them the names of those objects. then when he had declared unto them the names of those, he said: said i not unto you, verily i know the hidden in the heavens and the earth, and know that which ye disclose and that which ye are wont to conceal!
