We need to strongly condemn abuses, but we should also acknowledge steps forward when they are made, for example, the freeing of 120 people who had been in prison for some time on 12 October in honour of the 34th anniversary of the independence of Guinea.

Hay que censurar los abusos con toda firmeza, pero también hay que reconocer los pasos adelante cuando éstos se produzcan, como por ejemplo la liberación, el pasado 12 de octubre, con motivo del 34° aniversario de la independencia de Guinea, de 120 personas que llevaban tiempo encarceladas.

-An OECD hazard assessment was endorsed at the 34th Joint Meeting of the Chemicals Committee and the Working Party on Chemicals, Pesticides and Biotechnology(5-8 November 2002). According to this assessment PFOS is persistent in the environment, bio accumulative and toxic to mammalian species.

-En la reunión conjunta nº 34 del Comité de sustancias químicas y del grupo de trabajo sobre sustancias químicas, plaguicidas y biotecnología (5-8 de noviembre de 2002), se aprobó que se llevara a cabo una evaluación del riesgo por la OCDE. De dicha evaluación se desprende que los PFOS son persistentes en el medio ambiente, bioacumulativos y tóxicos para especies de mamíferos.

At its 34th session (Panamá, 12-16 May 2003), the International Tropical Timber Council decided, under Article 46(2) of the International Agreement on Tropical Timber, 1994 [1], to extend the Agreement for a period of three years with effect from 1 January 2004 until 31 December 2006.

En su reunión no 34 (Panamá, del 12 al 16 de mayo de 2003), el Consejo Internacional de las Maderas Tropicales acordó, de conformidad con el artículo 46, apartado 2, del Convenio Internacional de las Maderas Tropicales, 1994 [1], prorrogar dicho Acuerdo por un periodo de tres años con efectos a partir del 1 de enero de 2004 hasta el 31 de diciembre de 2006.

Whereas, in an effort to provide better protection for the health of infants, the rules of composition, labelling and advertising laid down in this Directive should be in conformity with the principles and the aims of the International Code of Marketing of Breast-Milk Substitutes adopted by the 34th World Health Assembly, bearing in mind the particular legal and factual situations existing in the Community;
