La décapitation systématique du Hamas était quant à elle un acte de folie, premièrement parce que les députés et les ministres représentent désormais légitimement la majorité de la population palestinienne, mais aussi et d’abord parce que le Premier ministre Haniyeh avait donné son feu vert à ce qu’on appelle le «document des prisonniers» et s’était de fait dissocié des positions les plus intransigeantes adoptées par les représentants du Hamas en Syrie, évitant le référendum et ouvrant la voie à un gouvernement de coalition en Palestine.

Plus d' efficacité- et certainement pas moins de ressources-, telle est donc la solution pour une simplification réelle, une valeur ajoutée communautaire dans toutes les interventions ainsi qu' une coordination avec d' autres politiques, à commencer par la politique des transports, la politique de la recherche et la politique agricole commune, de manière à ce que la main droite n' ignore pas ce que fait la main gauche.

Je suis toutefois quelque peu désabusé quand j’entends que l’on se réfère à la Commission des droits de l’homme des Nations unies, dont la composition actuelle comprend l’Arabie saoudite, qui décapite sur la place publique des gens coupables de délits liés à la drogue ou l’alcool, Cuba, qui, l’an dernier, a exécuté trois personnes au motif qu’elles avaient tenté de fuir le pays à bord d’un bateau pris en otage et emprisonne les dissidents politiques, et le Zimbabwe, qui est une dictature dans laquelle la liberté de la presse n’existe plus et des personnes sont soumises à la torture et à des arrestations arbitraires.

I am, however, a little cynical when I see references to the UN Human Rights Commission, whose current membership includes Saudi Arabia, which publicly beheads people for drug and alcohol offences; Cuba, which executed three people last year for attempting to flee the country in a hijacked ferry and locks up political dissidents, and Zimbabwe, which is a dictatorship in which press freedom is suppressed and people are subject to arbitrary arrest and torture.
