Donat que el correcte funcionament de les portes d’andana incideix directament en el rendiment del sistema i de l’explotació, les portes d’andana de les estacions es dissenyaran amb uns elevats criteris de fiabilitat, disponibilitat, mantenibilitat i seguretat (RAMS, acrònim de {\i Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Security}).

La fiabilitat bàsica es defineix com el temps mig entre fallades (MTBF), entenent com a fallada tot aquell esdeveniment (o conjunt d’esdeveniments) que requereix una acció correctora de manteniment o la intervenció del personal d’explotació per a la seva resolució i restablir la funcionalitat del sistema (per tancar manualment una porta o per garantir la seguretat del sistema de tancament).

Basic reliability is defined as the mean time between failures (MTBF), a failure being understood to be any event (or set of events) that requires a maintenance corrective action or action by the operations staff to solve it and re-establish system functionality (to manually close a door or to ensure the safety of the close system).

Amb un tren operant en aquest mode serà indispensable la presència de personal d’explotació per obrir les portes d’andana a través del PAM.

Personal d’explotació autoritzat assegurarà l’accés a les portes d’andana i que el tren pot abandonar l’estació sense perill.
