(7) In 1998 heeft de Commissie een grootschalig project opgezet inzake de elektronische identificatie van dieren (IDEA); het eindverslag is ingediend op 30 april 2002. Dit project heeft aangetoond dat de identificatieregeling voor schapen en geiten aanzienlijk kan worden verbeterd door gebruik te maken van elektronische identificatiemiddelen voor deze dieren, mits de nodige begeleidende maatregelen worden vastgesteld.

(7) In 1998 the Commission launched a large-scale project on the electronic identification of animals (IDEA), and its final report was completed on 30 April 2002. That project demonstrated that a substantial improvement in ovine and caprine animal identification systems could be achieved by using electronic identifiers for those animals, provided that certain conditions concerning the accompanying measures were fulfilled.

[8] De voornaamste tijdens de controlebezoeken ter plaatse ingewonnen informatie is bevestigd door een interministeriële conferentie over de gevolgen van resultaatgericht beheer, van de regeling voor uitgaven op middellange termijn en van de begrotingssteun voor overheidsfinanciën. Deze conferentie werd mede georganiseerd door het Senegalese ministerie van Economie en Financiën en het instituut IDEA International, in partnerschap met de ministeries van Economie en Financiën van Benin, Burkina Faso, Kaapverdië en Mali en de ontwikkelingspartners (Wereldbank, IMF, Europese Unie, Canada en Nederland), en werd bijgewoond door de controleurs van de Rekenkamer.

[8] The main information gathered during the on-the-spot visits was corroborated by an Interministerial Conference on the public finance implications of results-based management, the medium-term expenditure framework and budget support, which was jointly organised by the Senegalese Ministry of Economy and Finance and IDEA International, in partnership with the Economy and Finance Ministries of Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde and Mali and the development partners (WB, IMF, EU, Canada and the Netherlands). Auditors from the Court also attended.
