This was a compromise which was mulled over at length, involving four working groups chaired by Mr Amato, Mr Hänsch, Mr Christophersen and Mr Méndez de Vigo.

Jeg vil gøre det helt klart, at Parlamentet har givet efter af hensyn til kompromiset, og efter min opfattelse er det meningsløst, at kompromiset, som er en vigtig del af forfatningsteksten, nu bliver bragt i tvivl, og man forsøger at udviske et af disse tre ben.
