(166) Depending on the production process, the Community industry either used scrap or billets and ingots as raw material for the production of SPT. The raw material is the major cost driving component in the production cost of SPT and has a direct impact on the sales price evolution. Whereas in 2001 and 2002 raw material accounted for 35% of the full production cost of SPT of the Community industry and for 38% in 2003, during the IP the cost for raw material represented already 47% of full cost.

(166) Afhankelijk van het productieproces gebruikte de bedrijfstak van de Gemeenschap hetzij schroot, hetzij knuppels en ingots als grondstof voor de productie van NBP. De grondstof is de belangrijkste kostencomponent bij deze productie, zodat de prijs ervan een directe invloed op de ontwikkeling van de verkoopprijs heeft. Terwijl de grondstof in 2001 en 2002 nog 35% van de totale productiekosten van de bedrijfstak van de Gemeenschap voor NBP uitmaakte, was dit in 2003 38% en in 2004 al 47%.

(11) Traditionally, plumbing tubes were mainly made of copper, i.e. recycled copper, newly refined copper (cathode copper) or copper ingots, and to some extent steel. Since the early 1990s, plumbing tubes have increasingly been produced of plastic or compounds (plastic with layers of aluminium). The substitution process was enhanced by public discussion on quality standards for drinking water and the subsequent adoption of the European Drinking Water Directive in 1998.

(11) Leidingbuizen worden van oudsher vooral van koper gemaakt — van gerecycleerd koper, nieuw geraffineerd koper (electrolytisch koper) of koperen billets, en deels van staal. Sinds het begin van de jaren negentig worden leidingbuizen in toenemende mate van kunststof of composietmateriaal (kunststof met lagen aluminium) vervaardigd. Het substitutieproces werd versterkt door de publieke discussie over de kwaliteitsnormen voor drinkwater, welke in 1998 resulteerde in de goedkeuring van de Europese drinkwaterrichtlijn.

(11) AHF is manufactured by rolling aluminium ingots or foil-stock up to the desired thickness. Once rolled, the foil is annealed by a thermal process to make it pliable. Once rolled and annealed the AHF is presented on reels of a width not exceeding 650 mm. The dimension of the reel is determinant for its use, since the users of this product ("spoolers" or "rewinders") will mount the AHF onto small end-rolls destined for retail sale. The AHF rewound onto smaller rolls, is then used for multi-purpose short-life wrapping (mostly in households, catering and food and floristry retail businesses).

(11) AFH wordt vervaardigd door aluminium blokken of folie-halffabrikaten tot de gewenste dikte te walsen. Na het walsen wordt de folie in het kader van een thermisch proces gegloeid om ze plooibaar te maken. Na het walsen en gloeien wordt de AFH op rollen met een breedte van maximaal 650 mm gewikkeld. De breedte van deze rol is bepalend voor het gebruik omdat de verwerkers van dit product ("de spoolers" of "rewinders") de AFH op kleine rollen wikkelen die voor de detailhandel bestemd zijn. De op kleine rollen gewikkelde AFH is verpakkingsmateriaal met een korte levensduur dat voor vele doelen wordt aangewend (meestal wordt AFH gebruikt in de huishouding, de horeca, de levensmiddelenindustrie en in de bloemenhandel).
