Protection shall be granted for the life of the author and for fifty years after his death or after the death of the last surviving author; where the computer program is an anonymous or pseudonymous work, or where a legal person is designated as the author by national legislation in accordance with Article 2 (1), the term of protection shall be fifty years from the time that the computer program is first lawfully made available to the public.

Η διάρκεια της παρεχόμενης προστασίας καλύπτει τη ζωή του δημιουργού και 50 έτη μετά τον θάνατό του ή μετά τον θάνατο του τελευταίου επιζώντος δημιουργού 7 σε περίπτωση που το πρόγραμμα ηλεκτρονικού υπολογιστή αποτελεί ανώνυμο ή ψευδώνυμο έργο ή ένα νομικό πρόσωπο ορίζεται ως δημιουργός από την εθνική νομοθεσία σύμφωνα με το άρθρο 2 παράγραφος 1, η διάρκεια της προστασίας είναι 50 έτη από τον χρόνο κατά τον οποίο το πρόγραμμα του ηλεκτρονικού υπολογιστή κατέστη νόμιμα προσιτό στο κοινό για πρώτη φορά.
