present investigations were undertaken to develop interspecific/ intergeneric hybrids and amphiploids between brassica species and wild crucifers, namely raphanus raphanistrum, sinapis arvensis, carrichtera annua and brassica cossoniana. under field condition one hybrid combination, b. rapa × s. arvensis, was obtained whereas, ovary-ovule culture helped in the development of hybrid between b. napus × r. raphanistrum. inspite of best efforts, hybrids between b. cossoniana, c. annua and crop brassica species could not be developed. hybridity of f1/ amphiploids was confirmed by molecular, cytological and genomic in situ hybridization studies.
