From the evidence of the Heysel stadium, with its death toll, to the British hooligans at the UEFA Cup in Copenhagen and elsewhere , not forgetting the case of Nivel, the French policeman murdered by German supporters, let alone the Turkish'tourists ', the French PSG and others, it is quite obvious that sport makes people more sociable, tolerant and cooperative and fosters all those other qualities which have been promoted so well by the French suburbs and inner cities, since the World Cup, through the festive bonfires created by setting fire to cars.

Todos sabem, aliás, que, graças ao desporto e aos Jogos Olímpicos, a guerra do Peloponeso nunca aconteceu, que Atenas e Esparta se adoravam, que o circo criava a união que se sabe entre gladiadores e que, do estádio Heysel, com os seus mortos, aos hooligans britânicos do Campeonato Europeu de Futebol em Copenhaga e não só, passando pelo polícia francês Nivel, massacrado por adeptos alemães, para já não falar dos" turistas" turcos, do PSG francês e outros, manifestamente, o desporto aumenta a sociabilidade, a tolerância, a colaboração e toda uma série de qualidades que os subúrbios das grandes cidades e as cités francesas vêm desenvolvendo, desde o Campeonato do Mundo de Futebol, nas fogueiras festivas dos carros incendiados.
