The rising tide of this vicious, abominable sin may not have touched your life personally. Yet it is pervasive enough in the world that it may have touched someone you love. It frequently causes such profound suffering—that can be overcome—that I want to speak of how healing can be attained. It will be done reverently, for my objective is to help heal and not aggravate painful memories.

Возрастающий размах этого злого, отвратительного греха, возможно, не коснулся вас лично. Тем не менее этот порок достаточно распространен в мире, поэтому не исключено, что он причинил страдания кому-то из тех, кого вы любите. I see that happening today. In recent months I have heard deacons, teachers, and priests give talks which are clearly as inspired and powerful as you will hear in this general conference. As I have felt the power being given to young holders of the priesthood, I have thought that the rising generation is rising around us, as if on an incoming tide. My prayer is that those of us in the generations which have come before will rise on the tide with them. The preparation of the Aaronic Priesthood is a blessing to us all as well as to those they will serve in their generation and the generations to follow.

Я вижу, что это происходит уже сегодня. За последние месяцы я слышал выступления дьяконов, учителей и священников, которые, бесспорно, были такими же вдохновенными и мощными, как выступления на этой Генеральной конференции. Я ощущал силу, данную молодым носителям священства, и думал, что новое поколение поднимается рядом с нами как приливная волна. Я молюсь, чтобы на этой волне вместе с ними поднимались и предшествующие им поколения. Подготовка носителей Священства Ааронова – это благословение для всех нас, как и для тех, кому они будут служить в своем и в будущих поколениях.

And thou shalt declare glad tidings, yea, publish it upon the mountains, and upon every high place, and among every people that thou shalt be permitted to see.

Возвещай радостные вести, да, возвещай их на горах и на каждом высоком месте, и среди каждого народа, который тебе будет позволено видеть.

And verily I say unto you, that they who go forth, bearing these tidings unto the inhabitants of the earth, to them is power given to seal both on earth and in heaven, the unbelieving and rebellious;

И истинно говорю Я вам, что тем, кто пойдут с вестями этими к жителям Земли, дана власть наложить печать на неверующих и на непокорных как на Земле, так и на Небе;

And from this place they may bear exceedingly great and glorious tidings, in truth, unto the ends of the earth, that they may know that this is thy work, and that thou hast put forth thy hand, to fulfil that which thou hast spoken by the mouths of the prophets, concerning the last days.

И дабы могли они нести с этого места великие и славные вести, воистину, до концов Земли, дабы могли они знать, что это есть работа Твоя и что Ты простер руку Твою, дабы исполнить то, что Ты изрек устами Пророков Твоих о том, что будет в последние дни.

Now, what do we hear in the gospel which we have received? A voice of gladness! A voice of mercy from heaven; and a voice of truth out of the earth; glad tidings for the dead; a voice of gladness for the living and the dead; glad tidings of great joy. How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of those that bring glad tidings of good things, and that say unto Zion: Behold, thy God reigneth! As the dews of Carmel, so shall the knowledge of God descend upon them!

И ныне, что же мы слышим из Евангелия, которое мы получили? Голос радости! Голос милости с Неба и голос истины из Земли; радостные вести для умерших; голос радости для живых и умерших; великорадостные вести! Как прекрасны на горах ноги тех, кто приносят радостные вести благого и говорят Сиону: Вот, Бог твой царствует! Знание о Боге низойдет на них, как роса с Кармила!

And again, what do we hear? Glad tidings from Cumorah! Moroni, an angel from heaven, declaring the fulfilment of the prophets—the book to be revealed. A voice of the Lord in the wilderness of Fayette, Seneca county, declaring the three witnesses to bear record of the book! The voice of Michael on the banks of the Susquehanna, detecting the devil when he appeared as an angel of light! The voice of Peter, James, and John in the wilderness between Harmony, Susquehanna county, and Colesville, Broome county, on the Susquehanna river, declaring themselves as possessing the keys of the kingdom, and of the dispensation of the fulness of times!

И что же мы еще слышим? Радостные вести с Куморы! Мороний, Ангел с Неба, возвещающий исполнение пророчеств о книге, которая будет открыта. Голос Господень в дикой местности Фейета, графство Сенека, возвещающий, что три очевидца будут свидетельствовать о книге! Голос Михаила на берегах реки Саскуэханна, обнаруживающий дьявола, явившегося в виде ангела света! Голос Петра, Иакова и Иоанна в дикой местности между Гармони, графство Саскуэханна, и Коулсвиллем, графство Брум, на реке Саскуэханна, объявляющих, что имеют они ключи Царства и устроения полноты времен!

Verily thus saith the Lord: It is wisdom in my servant David W. Patten, that he settle up all his business as soon as he possibly can, and make a disposition of his merchandise, that he may perform a mission unto me next spring, in company with others, even twelve including himself, to testify of my name and bear glad tidings unto all the world.

Истинно так речет Господь: Мудро будет для слуги Моего Дэвида У. Паттена закончить как можно скорее все его дела и распродать свой товар, дабы он мог выполнять миссию для Меня следующей весной вместе с другими, то есть с двенадцатью, включая его самого, и свидетельствовать об имени Моем и нести радостные вести всему миру.

Verily I say unto you, that it is my will that my servant Jared Carter should go again into the eastern countries, from place to place, and from city to city, in the power of the ordination wherewith he has been ordained, proclaiming glad tidings of great joy, even the everlasting gospel.

Истинно говорю Я тебе, что это есть воля Моя, чтобы слуга Мой Джаред Картер снова отправился в восточные части страны и из места в место и из города в город возвещал великорадостные вести, а именно вечное Евангелие, со властью посвящения, на которое он был посвящен.

And then you may return to bear record, yea, even altogether, or two by two, as seemeth you good, it mattereth not unto me; only be faithful, and declare glad tidings unto the inhabitants of the earth, or among the congregations of the wicked.

И тогда вы сможете вернуться, чтобы свидетельствовать; да, все вместе или по двое, по усмотрению вашему -- Мне неважно; только будьте верны и радостные вести возвестите жителям Земли или среди собраний нечестивых.
