In early April 2003, the Swedish Government announced in the Riksdag, through the Equal Opportunities Minister Margareta Winberg, that it was prepared to review the law on abortion to consider whether women who are not resident in Sweden, and therefore not Swedish citizens, should still be able to have an abortion in the country.

El Gobierno sueco, a través de Margareta Winberg, Ministra para la Igualdad de Oportunidades, expresó ante el Parlamento a principios de abril de 2003 su disposición a revisar la legislación sobre el aborto para determinar si las mujeres que no residen en Suecia y que, por consiguiente, no son ciudadanas suecas, deberían seguir teniendo la posibilidad de abortar en este país.
