Monette Silvestre, spokesperson for #abolishpork, said this after the low turnout at the rally. The Manila Police District (MPD) estimated the crowd at 5,000 to 6,000 “during its peak from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.” Citizens from various sectors joined the rally and trekked to several booths to sign the petition for a people’s initiative to abolish the pork barrel system and other schemes to maintain in the national budget lump-sum appropriations for lawmakers and executive officials. The people’s initiative aims to collect about five to six million signatures nationwide to demand the removal of all discretionary funds within or outside of the annual budget. The rally also highlighted the first anniversary yesterday of the Million People March, where thousands of people gathered at Rizal Park when the pork barrel scandal first broke. Silvestre said fewer people attended the rally yesterday after some groups, particularly those from the middle class, have been affected by “fatigue.” He said the so-called spin doctors of the government are explioting the over fatigue factor of anti-pork barrel demonstrators. “I’d like to pose a challenge to everyone, every party. Magpapabulag nalang ba tayo and just continue with the status quo?” Silvestre said in an interview. “We should not get tired,” said Peachy Bretaña, a rally convenor. Silvestre, for his part, pegged the crowd estimate at 30,000 to 40,000. They included students, cause oriented groups, members of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, leftists, religious groups, and government workers. He said some of them just came to Luneta to affix their signature and did not stay to finish the rally. The theme of this year’s movement is Stand Up! Sign Up! Abolish All Pork. The event started the gathering of six million signatures nationwide to enact a law, through people’s initiative, that would repeal any lump sum or pork barrel in the budget. The figure represent 15 percent of the country’s voting population and signatories must come from the 234 legislative districts. Initiative and referendum are provided under Article VI Section 1 of the 1987 Constitution, which states that “the legislative power shall be vested in the Congress of the Philippines which shall consist of a Senate and a House of Representatives, except to the extent reserved to the people by the provision on initiative and referendum.” Laws enacted through people’s initiative cannot be repealed by Congress nor vetoed by the president.

The transitional hydrosphere The nature of the rock record from the time of the first sedimentary rocks (approximately 3.8 billion years ago) to about one to two billion years ago suggests that the amount of oxygen in the Earth’s atmosphere was significantly lower than it is today and that there were continuous chemical trends in the sedimentary rocks formed and, more subtly, in the composition of the hydrosphere. The chemistry of rocks shifted dramatically during this transitional period. The source rocks of sediments during this time may have been more basaltic than subsequent ones. Sedimentary debris was formed by the alteration of such source rocks in an oxygen-deficient atmosphere and accumulated primarily under anaerobic marine conditions.

Long ago in a thick forest, a young girl lived under the care of the goddess of weaving. Here she lived happily and without care, for everything that she wanted to eat was provided for her by her patroness. One day the goddess said to the girl, "Take this cotton, clean it, and make out a dress for yourself out of it." Now, the girl knew nothing about making cloth and weaving it, so she said to the goddess, "When the cotton is cleaned, is it ready for use?" "No," answered the guardian, "after it is cleaned, it must be beaten." "Well, after it is beaten, is it ready for use?" said the lazy girl. The goddess said that before it could be used, it would have to be spun. "Well, after it is spun, " persisted the saucy maiden, "is it ready for use?" "No, it must next be woven into cloth, cut, and sewn," answered the patient goddess. "Oh!" said, the girl, "it will take a long time and much hard work to make clothes that way. This leather hide which you have given me to beat the cotton on, will make me better clothing, because it will wear longer." So she covered herself with the leather. The goddess was so angry at the girl for her laziness that she decided that the leather should not only be her dress but also her very skin. Then the goddess took the stick for beating the cotton and thrusting it between the maiden's buttocks said to her, "This stick will become part of your body, and you will use it for climbing purposes. As a penalty for laziness, henceforth you shall live in trees in the forest, and there you will find your fruit." Thus, that's how originated the first monkey with a coat of leather and a tail.

The History of Sparta describes the destiny of the ancient Dorian Greek state known as Sparta from its beginning in the legendary period to its incorporation into the Achaean League under the late Roman Republic, as Allied State, in 146 BC, a period of roughly 1000 years. Since the Dorians were not the first to settle the valley of the Eurotas River in the Peloponnesus of Greece, the preceding Mycenaean and Stone Age periods are described as well. Sparta went on to become a district of modern Greece. Brief mention is made of events in the post-classical periods. Dorian Sparta rose to dominance in the 6th century BC. At the time of the Persian Wars, it was the recognized leader by assent of the Greek city-states. It subsequently lost that assent through suspicion that the Athenians were plotting to break up the Spartan state after an earthquake destroyed Sparta in 464 BC. When Sparta defeated Athens in the Peloponnesian War, it secured an unrivaled hegemony over southern Greece.[1] Sparta's supremacy was broken following the Battle of Leuctra in 371 BC.[1] It was never able to regain its military supremacy[2] and was finally absorbed by the Achaean League in the 2nd century BC.

ALS was first found in 1869 by French neurologist Jean-Martin Charcot, but it wasn’t until 1939 that Lou Gehrig brought national and international attention to the disease. Ending the career of one of the most beloved baseball players of all time, the disease is still most closely associated with his name. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed.
