(9) Therefore it is necessary to add the small hive beetle, Tropilaelaps spp., Ebola virus, and monkey pox virus to the list of notifiable diseases in Annex A to Directive 92/65/EEC.

(6) L'acaro Tropilaelaps (Tropilaelaps spp.) è un parassita esotico che attacca le api mellifere, presente per lo più nell'Asia sudorientale; se venisse introdotto nella Comunità, esso potrebbe avere effetti devastanti sullo stato sanitario delle api, sull'apicoltura e sulla produzione di miele.

(6) Tropilaelaps (Tropilaelaps spp.) is an exotic parasitic mite affecting honey bees that is mainly found in south-east Asia but which if imported into the Community could have devastating consequences on the health status of honey bees, on the apiculture industry and on the production of honey.

(4) L'acaro Tropilaelaps (Tropilaelaps spp.) è un parassita esotico che attacca le api mellifere e si sta diffondendo in vari paesi terzi, creando gravi problemi per l'industria apicola. Se venisse introdotto nella Comunità, potrebbe avere effetti altrettanto devastanti sulla sostenibilità dell'industria apicola comunitaria.

(4) The Tropilaelaps mite (Tropilaelaps spp.) is an exotic pest of honey bees which is spreading in various third countries, thereby creating serious problems for the apiculture industry. If introduced, it could also have similar severe consequences for the sustainability of the apiculture industry in the Community.

(7) L'eventuale infestazione ad opera del piccolo scarabeo dell'alveare e dell'acaro Tropilaelaps può essere individuata agevolmente solo per le api regine scortate da un piccolo numero di nutrici in gabbie individuali; di conseguenza, le importazioni di api devono essere limitate, in linea di massima, a queste spedizioni.

(7) Only queen bees accompanied by a small number of attendants in single queen bee cages can be easily checked for infestation with the small hive beetle and Tropilaelaps mite, and therefore imports of bees should in principle be limited to such consignments.

(5) A norma del regolamento (CE) n. 1398/2003, la presenza del piccolo scarabeo dell'alveare e dell'acaro Tropilaelaps nella Comunità è soggetta a denuncia poiché figurano entrambi nell'elenco della direttiva 92/65/CEE. A tutt'oggi, non è stata segnalata la presenza di nessuno dei due parassiti nella Comunità.

(5) Pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 1398/2003, the presence of the small hive beetle and the Tropilaelaps mite in the Community is subject to compulsory notification through their listing under Directive 92/65/EEC. At present there have been no reports that either has been found in the Community.

(9) È pertanto opportuno aggiungere la morva, la durina, l'anemia infettiva equina, tutte le forme di encefalomielite equina, il piccolo scarabeo dell'alveare e il Tropilaelaps mite all'allegato I della direttiva 82/894/CEE e modificare l'allegato II della direttiva 82/894/CEE per tenere conto delle modalità di allevamento delle api.

(9) It appears therefore appropriate to add glanders, dourine, equine infectious anaemia, all types of equine encephalomyelitis, the small hive beetle and the Tropilaelaps mite to Annex I to Council Directive 82/894/EEC and to change Annex II to Council Directive 82/894/EEC to take into account the way in which bees are kept.

(6) Oltre ad assoggettare questi parassiti all'obbligo di denuncia nella Comunità, occorre pertanto stabilire requisiti supplementari per l'importazione di api da determinati paesi terzi onde limitare il rischio di introdurre il piccolo scarabeo dell'alveare e l'acaro Tropilaelaps nella Comunità, tutelando così la situazione sanitaria dell'apicoltura comunitaria.

(6) Apart from making the presence of these pests notifiable within the Community, it is therefore necessary to lay down additional requirements for the importation of bees from certain third countries to limit the risk of introducing the small hive beetle and the Tropilaelaps mite into the Community, in the interest of protecting the Community's status as regards apiculture health.

3. Le gabbie, le nutrici e l'altro materiale che ha viaggiato con le api regine dal paese terzo di origine devono essere inviati ad un laboratorio dove si procederà agli esami necessari per individuare l'eventuale presenza del piccolo scarabeo dell'alveare e dell'acaro Tropilaelaps. Dopo gli esami di laboratorio, il materiale sarà integralmente distrutto.

3. The cages, attendants, and other material that accompanied the queens from the third country of origin shall be sent to a laboratory for examination for the presence of the small hive beetle, their eggs or larvae and signs of the Tropilaelaps mite. After laboratory examination, all material shall be destroyed.

(6) Occorre integrare nell'accordo il regolamento (CE) n. 1398/2003 della Commissione, del 5 agosto 2003, recante modifica dell'allegato A della direttiva 92/65/CEE del Consiglio, al fine di includervi il piccolo scarabeo dell'alveare (Aethina tumida), l'acaro Tropilaelaps (Tropilaelaps spp.), il virus di Ebola e il virus del vaiolo delle scimmie [6].

(6) Commission Regulation (EC) No 1398/2003 of 5 August 2003 amending Annex A to Council Directive 92/65/EEC to include the small hive beetle (Aethina tumida), the Tropilaelaps mite (Tropilaelaps spp.), Ebola and monkey pox [6] is to be incorporated into the Agreement.

(2) Il piccolo scarabeo dell'alveare (Aethina tumida) e l'acaro Tropilaelaps (Tropilaelaps spp.) sono parassiti esotici che attaccano le api mellifere e che si sono diffusi in numerosi paesi terzi creando gravi danni all'apicoltura. Nell’intento di impedire l’introduzione di tali parassiti nell’Unione europea, la decisione 2003/881/CE ha definito alcune misure cautelative riguardo alle importazioni di api vive.

(2) The small hive beetle (Aethina tumida) and Tropilaelaps mite (Tropilaelaps spp.) are exotic pests affecting honey bees that have spread to a number of third countries, creating serious problems to the apiculture industry. To prevent the introduction of these pests into the EU, protection measures on importation of live bees have been laid down by Decision 2003/881/EC.

2. Gli Stati membri autorizzano l’importazione delle api (Apis mellifera e Bombus spp.) di cui al paragrafo 1 da un paese terzo esclusivamente nel caso in cui la peste americana e le malattie causate da parassiti quali il piccolo scarabeo dell'alveare (Aethina tumida) e l'acaro Tropilaelaps (Tropilaelaps spp.) siano soggette a notifica su tutto il territorio di tale paese terzo.

2. Member States shall only authorise the importation of bees (Apis mellifera amp; Bombus spp.) referred to in paragraph 1 from a third country if the presence of American foulbrood, the small hive beetle (Aethina tumida) and the Tropilaelaps mite (Tropilaelaps spp.) are notifiable diseases/pests throughout the whole territory of that third country.
