i costituenti principali delle foglie e delle sommità fiorite (raccolte durante la fioritura ed essiccate all’ombra in locali ventilati) sono l’acido ursòlico (o ursòne) con attività simile al cortisone, che si trova anche nel mirtillo, nell’uva ursina, oltre che nel rivestimento ceroso che ricopre l’uva, le prugne ed altri frutti, ed altri triterpeni (1,5% nelle foglie), il glucoside eupatorìna, tannini catechici (fino al 5%), fitosteroli, alfa-amirina, flavonoidi (quercetina, kaempferolo), gomme, acido silicico (fino al 12%), acidi citrico, malico, nicotinico, ascorbico, vitamine k e b1.
