But I must not forget to point out the practical importance which petitions to the European Parliament have, for example in Portugal in the case of discrimination as regards salaries in the Banco Central Português and in the case of the customs agents, specific cases where many petitions were received - indicating that people expected an objective response to their problems from the European Parliament.

Os operadores, com excepção dos despachantes oficiais, dos transitários e dos transportadores quando actuam exclusivamente nessa qualidade, que intervêm na importação, exportação ou trânsito de substâncias classificadas constantes da categoria 1 do anexo, são obrigados a obter uma licença das autoridades competentes do Estado-membro em que estão estabelecidos para poderem exercer essa actividade.

Operators, other than customs agents, warehouse depositors and transporters when acting solely in that capacity, engaged in the import, export or transit of scheduled substances listed in Category 1 of the Annex shall be required to obtain a licence from the Member State in which they are established to qualify for this activity.
