These standards have recently updated and adopted by European Committee for Standardisation on 29 October 1999 and the test methods for some quality parameters which also are included as environmental specifictions in Annex I to IV of Directive 98/70/EC have been updated or changed to reflect technical progress. This product is a basic material used at various stages of the manufacturing process of textile goods, depending on the nature of textiles concerned. Around 60% of the Community consumption of PSF is used for spinning, that is to say manufacturing filaments for the production of textiles, after mixing or not with other fibres such as cotton or wool. Approximately 25% is used for filling, that is to say the stuffing or padding of certain textile goods (for example cushions, car seats, jackets) while the remaining 15% is used as such for other non-woven applications, in particular the production of carpets. The product in question is sold with different quality specifications: the A-grade corresponds to the regular quality, while the substandard grades are denominated as B and C-grades. The investigation showed that only the A-grade quality was exported to the Community. The PSF producers classify the product in different types according to their own criteria, which are mainly based on its application, thickness and length of the fibre.

2. Produkterna skall omfattas av leveransavtal enligt artikel 41 och vara förenliga med de normer som fastställts med tillämpning av avdelning I i förordning (EG) nr 2200/96 när det gäller frukt och grönsaker eller, om normer saknas, vara förenliga med kvalitetsspecifikationerna i avtalen.

The products shall be covered by supply contracts as referred to in Article 41 and comply with the standards established in accordance with Title I of Regulation (EC) No 2200/96 as regards fruit and vegetables or, where no such standards have been adopted, the quality specifications contained in the contracts.
