The malong is a traditional "tube skirt" made of handwoven or machine-made multi-colored cotton cloth, bearing a variety of geometric or okir designs. The malong is akin to the sarong worn by peoples in Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia. The malong is traditionally used as a garment by numerous tribes in the Southern Philippines and the Sulu Archipelago. Handwoven malongs are made by Maranao, Maguindanao, and T'boli weavers on a backstrap loom. The pattern or style of the malong may indicate the weaver's tribal origin, such as the Maranao malong landap. Very rare malong designs and styles can indicate the village in which the malong was made, for example, the extremely intricate malong rawatan made only by a handful of Maranao weavers in Lanao del Sur, Mindanao. Handwoven malongs, which are costly, are likely to be used only at social functions, to display the social and economic status of the wearer. While modern malongs are made of cotton and Lurex threads, some contemporary handwoven malongs are made of inexpensive rayon thread, to reduce the manufacturing cost to the weaver and ultimate cost to the consumer. There are many grades of cotton thread, and the cost of a malong can also be reduced by using the lesser grades of cotton thread, or by creating a loose or coarse weave.

Education Tan Caktiong graduated from University of Sto. Tomas with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering. He also has management tutoring certificates from the Asian Institute of Management, University of Michigan Business School, and Harvard University. He also received an Honorary Doctor of Humanities from St. Paul University, an Honorary Doctor of Science in Business Management from Far Eastern University(PSE: FEU), and an Honorary Doctor of Humanities from Southwestern University. Early beginnings Prior to founding Jollibee, Tan Caktiong and his brother Ernesto Tan Mantiong opened two franchises of Magnolia ice cream parlors. The Tan brothers were not new to the food business—their father Tan Eng Lan was a restaurant chef back in Davao. One of their branches was in Cubao while the other was in Quiapo. When customers began to ask for more than just ice cream, the brothers decided to add sandwich offerings. Eventually, they found out that more people were ordering their hamburgers more than the ice cream. It was then that they decided to focus their business on selling hamburgers instead. By 1978, Tan Caktiong already established a chain of hamburger outlets. While in search of a name and a mascot for his first store, Tan Caktiong came across his trove of Disney memories and found a character that somehow embodied his philosophy of “spreading happiness and being productive”—a bee. Tan Caktiong's hamburger store thus came to be known as “Jollibee.” When McDonald’s entered the Philippine market in 1982, Tan Caktiong refused to franchise the fast food giant and instead competed with it. Jollibee’s success was attributed to how they were able to customize its menu to suit the Filipino palate. In 1993, Tan Caktiong decided to go public with Jollibee and it became the first food service company to be listed in the Philippine Stock Exchange. Expansion Through the years, Tan Caktiong’s Jollibee Food Corporation (PSE: JFC) acquired other fast food chains. It bought Greenwich Pizza in 1994, Chowking from Robert Kwan in 2000, and Red Ribbon in 2005. At the end of 2009, there were 686 Jollibee stores, 431 Chowking stores, 231 Greenwhich stores, 15 Manong Pepe’s Karinderia, and 207 Red Ribbon branches. Jollibee is also present in Brunei Darussalam, China, Hong Kong (SAR of China), Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, the United States and Vietnam. The company aims to double the number of their restaurants to 4,000 outlets worldwide by year 2020. In a survey, the Jollibee group was the only Philippine company which made it to the top 20 of Asia's Best Employers list, ranking 16th. Through the Jollibee Foundation, the company gives back to the community through projects on education, leadership development, livelihood, environment, housing, and disaster relief.

ano aRainforests are forests characterized by high rainfall, with annual rainfall between 250 and 450 centimetres (98 and 177 in).[1] There are two types of rainforest: tropical rainforest and temperate rainforest. The monsoon trough, alternatively known as the intertropical convergence zone, plays a significant role in creating the climatic conditions necessary for the Earth's tropical rainforests. Around 40% to 75% of all biotic species are indigenous to the rainforests.[2] It has been estimated that there may be many millions of species of plants, insects and microorganisms still undiscovered in tropical rainforests. Tropical rainforests have been called the "jewels of the Earth" and the "world's largest pharmacy", because over one quarter of natural medicines have been discovered there.[3] Rainforests are also responsible for 28% of the world's oxygen turnover, sometimes misnamed oxygen production,[4] processing it through photosynthesis from carbon dioxide and consuming it through respiration. The undergrowth in some areas of a rainforest can be restricted by poor penetration of sunlight to ground level. If the leaf canopy is destroyed or thinned, the ground beneath is soon colonized by a dense, tangled growth of vines, shrubs and small trees, called a jungle[citation neededng rainforest

Katha is an Indian style of religious storytelling, whose performances are a ritual event in Hinduism, and often involves professional storytellers called kathavahchak or vyas, who recite the Hindu religious texts, such as the Puranas, Ramayana or Bhagavata Purana, often followed by a commentary, Pravachan. Sometimes such events take place in households when it involves smaller stories related to the Vrat Katha genre, for example, the Shri Satyanarayan Katha, and all are didactic in nature and used to instill moralistic values through the revelation of the consequences of human action (Karma).[1][2][3]
