As regards the last point which Mr Tomlinson mentioned on budgetary heading 1840 -the restaurant subsidy -I think that subsidy constitutes compensation to a firm which is providing a continuous and correct service to people who are not present for the whole week and many of whom are for one week in every month in Strasbourg.

Verordnung (EG) Nr. 1840/2001 der Kommission

(2) Regulation (EC) No 1840/2002(4) of the European Parliament and of the Council of 30 September 2002 was adopted to ensure the prolongation until 31 December 2002 of the ECSC steel statistics system after the expiry of the ECSC Treaty.

(2) Die Verordnung (EG) Nr. 1840/2002 des Europäischen Parlaments und des Rates(4) wurde erlassen, um die Weiterführung des Systems für die Stahlstatistik der EGKS nach Ablauf des EGKS-Vertrags bis zum 31. Dezember 2002 sicherzustellen.

In Article 3 of Regulation (EEC) No 1840/92, 'Not later than two months after...'is replaced by 'Not later than four months after...'.

In Artikel 3 der Verordnung (EWG) Nr. 1840/92 werden die Worte "Spätestens zwei Monate nach Ablauf" durch die Worte "Spätestens vier Monate nach Ablauf" ersetzt.

Whereas Article 3 of Commission Regulation (EEC) No 1840/92 (2) laying down detailed rules for the application of Regulation (EEC) No 525/92 sets a two month time limit for notification to the Commission of the overall quantities of products coveres by admissble applications, whereas this time does not enable the competent Greek authorities to effect the necessary scrutiny and should therefore be extended;

Da diese Frist den griechischen Behörden jedoch nicht genügend Zeit lässt, um die notwendigen Kontrollen durchzuführen, sollte sie verlängert wrden.
