ފަހެ، އެދުވަސް އެއީ އުނދަގޫވެގެންވާ ދުވަހެކެވެ.

or some needy person in distress,
ނުވަތަ އަތްމަތި ދަތިވެފައިވާ މިސްކީނަކަށެވެ.

or to a needy person in distress;
ނުވަތަ އަތްމަތި ދަތިވެފައިވާ މިސްކީނަކަށެވެ.

certainly we have created man to be in distress.
ހަމަކަށަވަރުން، ތިމަންރަސްކަލާނގެ އިންސާނާ ހައްދަވައި، ވަރުބަލިވުމާއި ގަދަ މަސައްކަތުގެ ތެރެޔަށް ލެއްވީމެވެ.

that will be- that day - a day of distress,-
ފަހެ، އެދުވަސް އެއީ އުނދަގޫވެގެންވާ ދުވަހެކެވެ.

we have not sent the quran down to you to distress you,
ތިމަންރަސްކަލާނގެ ކަލޭގެފާނުގެ މައްޗަށް މި قرآن ބާވައިލެއްވީ، ކަލޭގެފާނުގެ ހިތްޕުޅު ދަތިވެ، އަބާއްޖަވެރިވުމަކަށް ނޫނެވެ.

and saved them and their people from the great distress,
އަދި ތިމަންރަސްކަލާނގެ އެ ދެބޭކަލުންނާއި، އެ ދެބޭކަލުންގެ قوم ގެމީހުން ބޮޑުވެގެންވާ ހިތާމައިން ސަލާމަތް ކުރެއްވީމެވެ.

and delivered them and their people from their great distress,
އަދި ތިމަންރަސްކަލާނގެ އެ ދެބޭކަލުންނާއި، އެ ދެބޭކަލުންގެ قوم ގެމީހުން ބޮޑުވެގެންވާ ހިތާމައިން ސަލާމަތް ކުރެއްވީމެވެ.

and we delivered them both and their people from the mighty distress.
އަދި ތިމަންރަސްކަލާނގެ އެ ދެބޭކަލުންނާއި، އެ ދެބޭކަލުންގެ قوم ގެމީހުން ބޮޑުވެގެންވާ ހިތާމައިން ސަލާމަތް ކުރެއްވީމެވެ.

but grieve not over them, nor distress thyself because of their plots.
އަދި އެއުރެންގެ މައްޗަށް ކަލޭގެފާނު ހިތާމަ ނުކުރައްވާށެވެ! އަދި އެއުރެން މަކަރުހަދާ ކަންތަކުން ހިތްޕުޅު ދަތިވުމެއްގެ ތެރޭގައި ކަލޭގެފާނު ވެވަޑައި ނުގަންނަވާށެވެ!

so we responded to him and saved him from the distress. and thus do we save the believers.
ފަހެ، ތިމަންރަސްކަލާނގެ އެކަލޭގެފާނަށް އިޖާބަ ދެއްވީމެވެ. އަދި ދަތިކަމާއި، މޮޅިވެރިކަމުން އެކަލޭގެފާނު ސަލާމަތްކުރެއްވީމެވެ. އަދި އެފަދައިން ތިމަންރަސްކަލާނގެ مؤمن ތަކުން ސަލާމަތްކުރައްވަމެވެ.

then when he removeth the distress from you, forthwith a party of you with their lord associate.
ދެން އެކަލާނގެ، ތިޔަބައިމީހުންގެ ކިބައިން، އެ ދަތިحال ފިއްލަވައިފިނަމަ، އެހާރުން ތިޔަބައިމީހުންކުރެ ބަޔަކު، އެއުރެންގެ ވެރިރަސްކަލާނގެއަށް شريك ކުރެތެވެ.

let not the utterances of the opponents distress you. indeed all honour is allah's.
އެއުރެންގެ (ދޮގު) ވާހަކަތައް ކަލޭގެފާނު ހިތާމަވެރިކުރުވިޔަ ނުދެއްވާށެވެ! ހަމަކަށަވަރުން، ހުރިހާ عزّة އެއް ملك ވެގެންވަނީ اللَّه އަށެވެ. އެކަލާނގެއީ، މޮޅަށް އައްސަވާވޮޑިގެންވާ މޮޅަށް ދެނެވޮޑިގެންވާ ރަސްކަލާނގެއެވެ.

and grieve you not for them, nor be straitened (in distress) because of what they plot.
އަދި އެއުރެންގެ މައްޗަށް ކަލޭގެފާނު ހިތާމަ ނުކުރައްވާށެވެ! އަދި އެއުރެން މަކަރުހަދާ ކަންތަކުން ހިތްޕުޅު ދަތިވުމެއްގެ ތެރޭގައި ކަލޭގެފާނު ވެވަޑައި ނުގަންނަވާށެވެ!

and grieve thou not for them, nor be in distress because of what they plot (against thee).
އަދި އެއުރެންގެ މައްޗަށް ކަލޭގެފާނު ހިތާމަ ނުކުރައްވާށެވެ! އަދި އެއުރެން މަކަރުހަދާ ކަންތަކުން ހިތްޕުޅު ދަތިވުމެއްގެ ތެރޭގައި ކަލޭގެފާނު ވެވަޑައި ނުގަންނަވާށެވެ!

he said: i expose my distress and anguish only unto allah, and i know from allah that which ye know not.
އެކަލޭގެފާނު ވިދާޅުވިއެވެ. ތިމަންކަލޭގެފާނުގެ މޮޅިޔާއި، ހިތާމައިގެ شكوى ދަންނަވާކަން ކަށަވަރީ، ހަމައެކަނި اللَّه އަށެވެ. އަދި ތިޔަބައިމީހުންނަށް ނޭނގޭ ކަންތައްތަކެއް، اللَّه ގެ حضرة ން ތިމަންކަލޭގެފާނަށް އެނގިވަޑައިގަނެއެވެ.

and if we show mercy to them and remove the distress they have, they would persist in their inordinacy, blindly wandering on.
އެއުރެންނަށް ތިމަންރަސްކަލާނގެ رحمة ލައްވައި، އެއުރެންގެ ކިބައިގައިވާ ދަތިކަން ތިމަންރަސްކަލާނގެ ފިއްލެވިނަމަވެސް، އެއުރެންގެ މަގުފުރެދުމުގައި ދެވޭނުދެވޭތަނެއް ނޭނގޭގޮތުގައި، އެއުރެން ދެމިތިބީހެވެ.

bring to mind our servant job who cried to his lord, "satan has afflicted me with distress and suffering."
ތިމަންރަސްކަލާނގެ އަޅު أيـّوب ގެފާނު ހަނދުމަކުރައްވާށެވެ! (އެއީ) އެކަލޭގެފާނުގެ ވެރިރަސްކަލާނގެ حضرة އަށް دعاء ދެންނެވި ހިނދުގައެވެ. (އެކަލޭގެފާނު ދެންނެވިއެވެ.) އަޅުގެ ގައިގައި شيطان އާ ބީހި، އެކަލޭގެ ފަރާތުން އަޅާއަށް ވަރުބަލިކަމާއި ވޭން ލިބިއްޖެއެވެ.
