Thanks for sharing! Reply Anna - CinderellaImagesOctober 27, 2011 Hi Natasha! I just came across your blog while searching for Karalevsky cake recipes. My mom used to make them for New Year’s Eve when I was a child growing up in Armenia. I haven’t had it since we moved to the States 25 years ago (I now live in Rome, Italy)! But I am so glad to have found it on your blog, thank you! I will try it out soon. My mom is going to be so happy that I found the recipe once again! By the way, I’d like to tell you the name of this fruit salad above, it’s Macedonia! 🙂 According to Wikipedia, “Fruit Macedonia is a common dessert in Spain, France, Italy and Latin America. The word Macedonia was popularised at the end of the 18th Century to refer to mixed fruit salad, alluding to the diverse origin of the people of Alexander’s Macedonian Empire. It is sometimes said that it refers to the ethnic mixture in Ottoman 19th century Macedonia, but the chronology and contemporary sources do not support this interpretation.” Good luck and happy cooking! 🙂 P.S. I am a Wedding Photographer and Wedding Planner here in Italy, so if any of your friends or readers, or yourself, are planning to visit Italy and would like to have Family portraits, Honeymoon or Engagement Photography, or are planning to get married here, and need help with the planning, let me know! Also, If you need any Italian recipes feel free to write me. Greetings from Italy, Anna Reply LauraOctober 11, 2011 We also add condensed milk and cottage cheese tastes really good. Also my friend she just adds jello powder I think to have some better taste or for color not sure. Reply Natasha NatashasKitchen.comOctober 11, 2011 Thank you Laura – condensed milk sounds interesting. I love using condensed milk and never thought to put it in fruit salad. Reply Natasha NatashasKitchen.comOctober 11, 2011 So do you only put cottage cheese and condensed milk into the salad and mix it all together? Reply MariyaJanuary 9, 2013 I know it’s been a long time since your question but I thought I would share. I mix cool whip 8 oz(or your own whipped cream) with cream cheese 1/2 pack or even less and condensed milk1/2 can is usually enough. And lemon juice:) Almost like cake cream. Everyone loves it:) Reply Natasha natashaskitchenJanuary 9, 2013 Thank you for sharing Mariya :). Reply JenOctober 9, 2011 I make fruit salad a little different, but this sounds yummy too. 1can of pineapple 1can of peaches 1 can of mixed fruit or pears (if you have grapes in the house that will be a great add too) Juices strained, fruit can be cut to bite sizes if they are to big. Mix that in a big bowel add one container of sour cream 1/2 bag of small marshmallows and secret ingredient is adding a little bit of the jello packet for coloring preferably strawberry or raspberry. It will add flavor and make the color look better. Mix everything together and serve. I like it when it stands in the fridge a little bit before serving. Reply Natasha NatashasKitchen.comOctober 10, 2011 I am blessed with the nicest readers. Thank you all for sharing your recipes and suggestions. I’m looking forward to trying them Reply NellaOctober 8, 2011 Yum…I love fruit salad. Have you ever tried it with half honey/half fresh lemon juice? Great for summer time because seems to keep fruit ‘fresh’ longer. Reply Natasha NatashasKitchen.comOctober 8, 2011 I haven’t but that sounds really good. Thank you – I will definitely try that! Reply Mary AnnOctober 9, 2011 Better than the lemon juice is lime juice and honey. It’s wonderful. Reply EllaOctober 7, 2011 I like to make the same salad! who says, who says you're not perfect? Who says you're not worth it? Who says you're the only one that's hurting'? Trust me, that's the price of beauty Who says you're not pretty? Who says you're not beautiful? Who says? 31 January 2001 was the day my parents dream became a reality. I am the youngest of 4 children and guess what I am the only daughter. So yes some may say I am spoilt but I really don’t think so. Having three older brother is not easy, Thank God two have left home already. So it is my youngest brother Kushail, my grandmother and my mom who I live with. I have been through some tough times like losing my dad when I was ten, been in an armed robbery in the same year. However I believe these experiences made me the Sonali I am today. I am brave, compassionate and a very loving person. I know that life is short so I therefore live by the saying life your life like today is the last day. I love the freshness of the colour yellow; I believe this is such a joyful and refreshing colour. ED Sheeran is my latest favourite singer, however I do go through favourite singers all the time. I am not very athletic person, but I like to swim for fun, I also read, but watching movies is my favorite pass time. My favourite serial is Suits, this is because I want to be a lawyer after school. Northlands has introduced me to some special people, my two new friends are Vashun and Nasendri. Carmel and Zakiyya are my friends from primary school and we go back a long way. Pasta is my favourite food, I can have this everyday. I am petrified of gecko’s and dragon files.
