by the night and what it is fraught with ,
በሌሊቱም በሰበሰውም ሁሉ ፤

and [ by ] the night and what it envelops
በሌሊቱም በሰበሰውም ሁሉ ፤

every soul is held in pledge for what it earns ,
ነፍስ ሁሉ በሠራችው ሥራ ተያዥ ናት ፡ ፡

every soul , for what it has earned , will be retained
ነፍስ ሁሉ በሠራችው ሥራ ተያዥ ናት ፡ ፡

( then ) every soul will know what it hath made ready .
ነፍስ ሁሉ ( ከሥራ ) ያቀረበችውን ታውቃለች ፤

each soul will know what it has advanced , and what it has deferred .
ማንኛይቱም ነፍስ ያስቀደመችውንና ያቆየችውን ታውቃለች ፡ ፡

and hearkens to the command of its lord , doing what it should .
ለጌታዋም በሰማች ጊዜ ፤ ( መስማት ) ተገባትም ፤ ( ሰው ሁሉ ሥራውን ይገናኛል ) ፡ ፡

a soul will [ then ] know what it has put forth and kept back .
ማንኛይቱም ነፍስ ያስቀደመችውንና ያቆየችውን ታውቃለች ፡ ፡

a soul will [ then ] know what it has brought [ with it ] .
ነፍስ ሁሉ ( ከሥራ ) ያቀረበችውን ታውቃለች ፤

a soul will know what it hath sent before ( it ) and what left behind .
ማንኛይቱም ነፍስ ያስቀደመችውንና ያቆየችውን ታውቃለች ፡ ፡

and each soul is paid in full for what it did . and he is best aware of what they do .
ነፍስም ሁሉ የሠራችውን ሥራ ትሞላለች ፤ ( ትሰፈራለች ) ፡ ፡ እርሱም የሚሠሩትን ሁሉ ዐዋቂ ነው ፡ ፡

( then ) every soul will know what it had prepared ( for itself ) .
ነፍስ ሁሉ ( ከሥራ ) ያቀረበችውን ታውቃለች ፤
