the signs of allah have they sold for a miserable price, and (many) have they hindered from his way: evil indeed are the deeds they have done.

ہم نے بھی یہ وعدے بہت سنے ہیں اور ہم سے پہلے ہمارے باپ دادا بھی سنتے رہے ہیں یہ محض افسانہائے پارینہ ہیں"

اور کیا وہ لوگ جو بُری حرکتیں کر رہے ہیں یہ سمجھے بیٹھے ہیں کہ وہ ہم سے بازی لے جائیں گے؟ بڑا غلط حکم ہے جو وہ لگا رہے ہیں
do the evil-doers suppose that they will get the better of us? how evil is their judgement!

اور نہ کسی کاہن کا قول ہے، (افسوس) بہت کم نصیحت لے رہے ہو
nor diviner's speech - little is it that ye remember!

کیا تم نے ان لوگوں کو نہیں دیکھا جو خدا کی آیتوں میں جھگڑتے ہیں۔ یہ کہاں بھٹک رہے ہیں؟
did you not see those who dispute concerning allah's signs? whence are they, then, being turned astray?

کیا (کفّار) کہتے ہیں: (یہ) شاعر ہیں؟ ہم اِن کے حق میں حوادثِ زمانہ کا انتظار کر رہے ہیں؟،
do they say, "he is only a poet and we are waiting to see him die!?"
