anders als bei anderen obstsorten werden pflaumen anschließend nicht mehr in der sonne getrocknet – die sonneneinwirkung ist im spät-september nicht mehr stark genug. für das entsteinen der pflaumen gibt es zwei methoden: "ashlock pitted" bedeutet, der stein wird mit einem dorn herausgedrückt. die zweite art nennt sich "elliot pitted" – bei ihr wird der stein seitlich durch mehrere dornen entfernt.
