on thrones woven [ with ornament ] ,
በተታቱ አልጋዎች ላይ ይኾናሉ ፡ ፡

lo ! we have adorned the lowest heaven with an ornament , the planets ;
እኛ ቅርቢቱን ሰማይ በከዋክብት ጌጥ አጌጥናት ፡ ፡

we made what is upon the earth an ornament for it , to test them as to which of them is best in conduct .
እኛ ማንኛቸው ሥራው ያማረ መኾኑን ልንፈትናቸው በምድር ላይ ያለን ሁሉ ለእርሷ ጌጥ አደረግን ፤

wealth and children are the ornament of this present life . but the things that last and good deeds , are better with your lord in reward and hope .
ገንዘብና ወንዶች ልጆች የቅርቢቱ ሕይወት ጌጦች ናቸው ፡ ፡ መልካሞቹም ቀሪዎች ( ሥራዎች ) እጌታህ ዘንድ በምንዳ በላጭ ናቸው ፡ ፡ በተስፋም በላጭ ናቸው ፡ ፤

lo ! we have placed all that is on the earth as an ornament thereof that we may try them : which of them is best in conduct .
እኛ ማንኛቸው ሥራው ያማረ መኾኑን ልንፈትናቸው በምድር ላይ ያለን ሁሉ ለእርሷ ጌጥ አደረግን ፤

and ornament of gold . and yet all that would have been but a pro vision of the life of the world ; and the hereafter with thy lord is for the godfearing .
የወርቅ ጌጥንም ( ባደረግንላቸው ነበር ) ፡ ፡ ይህም ሁሉ የቅርቢቱ ሕይወት መጣቀሚያ እንጅ ሌላ አይደለም ፤ ( ጠፊ ነው ) ፡ ፡ መጨረሻይቱም አገር በጌታህ ዘንድ ለጥንቁቆቹ ናት ፡ ፡

and ( he made ) horses and mules and asses that you might ride upon them and as an ornament ; and he creates what you do not know .
ፈረሶችንም ፣ በቅሎዎችንም ፣ አህዮችንም ልትቀመጡዋቸውና ልታጌጡባቸው ( ፈጠረላችሁ ) ፡ ፡ የማታውቁትንም ድንቅ ነገር ይፈጥራል ፡ ፡

and whatsoever ye have been given is a comfort of the life of the world and an ornament thereof ; and that which allah hath is better and more lasting . have ye then no sense ?
ከማንኛውም ነገር የተሰጣችሁት ፤ የቅርቢቱ ሕይወት ጥቅምና ጌጧ ነው ፡ ፡ አላህ ዘንድ ያለውም ( ምንዳ ) በጣም በላጭና ዘውታሪ ነው አታውቁምን

' we have not failed in our tryst with thee , ' they said , ' of our volition ; but we were loaded with fardels , even the ornaments of the people , and we cast them , as the samaritan also threw them , into the fire . '
« ቀጠሮህን በፈቃዳችን አልጣስንም ፡ ፡ ግን እኛ ከሕዝቦቹ ጌጥ ሸክሞችን ተጫን ( በእሳት ላይ ) ጣልናትም ፡ ፡ ሳምራዊውም እንደዚሁ ጣለ » አሉት ፡ ፡
