‘ had we possessed a reminder from our predecessors ,
« ከቀድሞዎቹ ( መጻሕፍት ) ገሳጭ መጽሐፍ እኛ ዘንድ በነበረን ኖሮ ፤

nay , but they say the like of what their predecessors of yore had said .
ይልቁንም ( የመካ ከሓዲዎች ) የፊተኞቹ ሕዝቦች እንዳሉት ብጤ አሉ ፡ ፡

certainly we know the predecessors among you and certainly we know the successors ,
ከእናንተም ተቀዳሚዎቹን በእርግጥ ዐውቀናል ፡ ፡ ወደ ኋላም ቀሪዎቹን በእርግጥ ዐውቀናል ፡ ፡

their predecessors also said the same , but their earnings proved of no avail to them ,
እነዚያ ከእነርሱ በፊት የነበሩት ሕዝቦች በእርግጥ ብለዋታል ፡ ፡ ይሠሩት የነበሩትም ነገር ከእነርሱ አልጠቀማቸውም ፡ ፡

have they inherited such dealings with the prophets from their predecessors or are they a rebellious people ?
በእርሱ ( በዚህ ቃል ) አደራ ተባብለዋልን ? አይደለም ፤ እነርሱ ጥጋበኞች ሕዝቦች ናቸው ፡ ፡

the unjust will bear a burden like that of their unjust predecessors . let them not make me bring immediate punishment upon them .
ለእነዚያም ለበደሉት እንደ ጓደኞቻቸው ፋንታ ብጤ ( የቅጣት ) ፋንታ አልላቸው ፡ ፡ ስለዚህ አያስቸኩሉኝ ፡ ፡

those who oppose god and his messenger will be humiliated , as were their predecessors . we have sent down clear revelations .
ግልጾች ማስረጃዎችን ያወረድን ስንኾን እነዚያ አላህንና መልክተኛውን የሚከራከሩ እነዚያ ከእነርሱ በፊት የነበሩት እንደተዋረዱ ይዋረዳሉ ፡ ፡ ለከሓዲዎችም አዋራጅ ቅጣት አልላቸው ፡ ፡

the wrongdoers will meet the same fate as their predecessors , let them not ask me to hasten on [ the punishment ] ,
ለእነዚያም ለበደሉት እንደ ጓደኞቻቸው ፋንታ ብጤ ( የቅጣት ) ፋንታ አልላቸው ፡ ፡ ስለዚህ አያስቸኩሉኝ ፡ ፡

if they reject you , so did their predecessors . messengers came to them with clear signs , with scriptures , and with the enlightening book ,
ቢያስተባብሉህም እነዚያ ከበፊታቸው የነበሩት በእርግጥ አስተባብለዋል ፡ ፡ መልክተኞቻቸው በግልጽ ማስረጃዎችን ፣ በጽሑፎችም ፣ አብራሪ በኾነ መጽሐፍም መጥተዋቸዋል ፡ ፡

and if they reject thee , so did their predecessors , to whom came their messengers with clear signs , books of dark prophecies , and the book of enlightenment .
ቢያስተባብሉህም እነዚያ ከበፊታቸው የነበሩት በእርግጥ አስተባብለዋል ፡ ፡ መልክተኞቻቸው በግልጽ ማስረጃዎችን ፣ በጽሑፎችም ፣ አብራሪ በኾነ መጽሐፍም መጥተዋቸዋል ፡ ፡

in fact they arbitrarily rejected as false whatever they failed to comprehend and whose final sequel was not apparent to them . likewise had their predecessors rejected the truth , declaring it falsehood .
ይልቁንም ( ከቁርኣን ) እውቀቱን ባላደረሱት ፍቹም ገና ባልመጣቸው ነገር አስተባበሉ ፡ ፡ እንደዚሁ እነዚያ ከእነሱ በፊት የነበሩት አስተባብለዋል ፡ ፡ የበዳዮችም መጨረሻ እንዴት እንደ ነበረ ተመልከት ፡ ፡

and indeed , for those who have wronged is a portion [ of punishment ] like the portion of their predecessors , so let them not impatiently urge me .
ለእነዚያም ለበደሉት እንደ ጓደኞቻቸው ፋንታ ብጤ ( የቅጣት ) ፋንታ አልላቸው ፡ ፡ ስለዚህ አያስቸኩሉኝ ፡ ፡

on earth , we have made each of your generations the successors of their predecessors ; we have made some of you do good deeds of a higher degree than others . he will test you in this way through what he has revealed to you .
እርሱም ያ በምድር ምትኮች ያደረጋችሁ በሰጣችሁም ጸጋ ሊፈትናችሁ ከፊላችሁን ከከፊሉ በላይ በደረጃዎች ከፍ ያደረገ ነው ፡ ፡ ጌታህ ቅጣቱ ፈጣን ነው ፡ ፡ እርሱም እጅግ መሓሪ ሩኅሩኅ ነው ፡ ፡

have they not travelled through the earth that they may observe what was the end of their predecessors who were far mightier and tilled the land and built upon it more than these have ever built ? and allah 's messengers came to them with clear signs .
በምድር ላይ አይኼዱምና የእነዚያን ከበፊታቸው የነበሩትን ሰዎች ፍጻሜ እንዴት እንደነበረ አይመለከቱምን ? በኀይል ከእነርሱም ይበልጥ የጠነከሩ ነበሩ ፡ ፡ ምድርንም አረሱ ፡ ፡ ( እነዚህ ) ከአለሟትም የበዛ አለሟት ፡ ፡ መልዕክተ ኞቻቸውም በተዓምራቶች መጡባቸው ፤ ( አስተባበሉምና ጠፉ ) ፡ ፡ አላህም የሚበድላቸው አልነበረም ፤ ግን ነፍሶቻቸውን ይበድሉ ነበሩ ፡ ፡

( their plight will be ) no better than that of the people of pharaoh , and their predecessors : they denied our signs , and allah called them to account for their sins . for allah is strict in punishment .
( ልማዳቸው ሁሉ ) እንደፈርዖን ቤተሰብና እንደእነዚያ ከበፊታቸው እንደነበሩት ሕዝቦች ልማድ ነው ፡ ፡ በአንቀጾቻችን አስተባበሉ ፡ ፡ አላህም በኃጢአቶቻቸው ያዛቸው ፡ ፡ አላህም ቅጣተብርቱ ነው ፡ ፡
