"zar vam ajeti moji nisu kazivani, a vi ste ih poricali?"

my signs were rehearsed to you and you turned back on your heels and took to flight,
doista, bili su vam ajeti moji učeni, pa ste na petama svojim odstupali,

surely my signs have been rehearsed unto you, and upon your heel ye were wont to draw back.
doista, bili su vam ajeti moji učeni, pa ste na petama svojim odstupali,

"were not my signs rehearsed to you, and ye did but treat them as falsehood?"
"zar vam ajeti moji nisu kazivani, a vi ste ih poricali?"

"my signs used to be rehearsed to you, but ye used to turn back on your heels-
doista, bili su vam ajeti moji učeni, pa ste na petama svojim odstupali,

when to him are rehearsed our signs, "tales of the ancients", he cries!
kad mu se uče ajeti naši, rekne: "priče ranijih!"

and how would ye deny faith while unto you are rehearsed the signs of allah, and among you lives the messenger?
a kako da ne vjerujete, a vi ste ti kojima se uče ajeti allahovi i među vama je poslanik njegov?

but those who denied the truth, they shall be told: “were my signs not rehearsed to you?
a što se tiče onih koji ne vjeruju: "ta zar vam ajeti moji nisu bili učeni?

allowed unto you is the beast of the flock except that which is rehearsed unto you, not allowing the chase while ye are in a state of sanctity.
dozvoljava vam se stoka, ali ne ona koja će vam se navesti; dok obrede hadža obavljate, nije vam dozvoljeno loviti.

whenever the signs of (allah) most gracious were rehearsed to them, they would fall down in prostrate adoration and in tears.
kad bi im se ajeti milostivog čitali, oni bi licem na tle padali i plakali.

and as for those who disbelieved: were not my revelations rehearsed unto you? but ye were stiff necked, and ye were a people guilty.
a onima koji nisu vjerovali: "zar vam ajeti moji nisu kazivani, ali vi ste se oholili i narod nevjernički postali.

and allowed unto you are the cattle, save that which hath been rehearsed unto you; so avoid the pollution of the idols, and avoid the word of falsehood.
a dozvoljena vam je stoka, izuzev šta vam je recitirano, zato se klonite prljavštine idola, i klonite se govora lažnog,

and when our clear signs are rehearsed to them, their only contention is: “bring back to us our fathers if you are truthful.”
a kad im se ajeti naši jasni kazuju, samo se ovim riječima izgovaraju: "pretke naše u život povratite, ako je istina to što govorite."

and when our manifest signs are rehearsed unto them, thou recognizest repugnance on the countenaces of those who disbelieve; well- nigh they rush upon these who rehearse unto them our signs.
a kad im se naši jasni ajeti kazuju, ti primjećuješ veliko negodovanje na licima onih što ne vjeruju, koji umalo da ne nasrnu na one koji im riječi naše kazuju.

and when it is rehearsed unto them they say: we believe therein: verily it is truth from our lord: verily we have been even before it of those who submit themselves.
a kad im se kazuje, govore: "mi vjerujemo u nj, on je istina od gospodara našeg, mi smo i prije bili muslimani."

thus (is it revealed), that we may strengthen thy heart thereby, and we have rehearsed it to thee in slow, well-arranged stages, gradually.
a tako se objavljuje da bismo njime srce tvoje učvrstili, i mi ga sve ajet po ajet objavljujemo.

and recite what is rehearsed to you in your homes, of the signs of allah and his wisdom: for allah understands the finest mysteries and is well-acquainted (with them).
i pamtite allahove ajete i mudrost koja se kazuje u domovima vašim; – allah je, uistinu, dobar i sve zna.
