اس بنا پر کہ وہ اپنے آپ کو (دنیا میں ظاہراً) بے نیاز دیکھتا ہے،

his wealth and gains will not exempt him.
اس کا مال اورجو کچھ اس نے کمایا اس کے کام نہ آیا

nor did we give them bodies that ate no food, nor were they exempt from death.
او رہم نے ان کے ایسے بدن بھی نہیں بنائے تھے کہ وہ کھانانہ کھائیں اور نہ وہ ہمیشہ رہنے والے تھے

then why do ye not,- if you are exempt from (future) account,-
اب اگر تم کسی کے محکوم نہیں ہو اور اپنے اِس خیال میں سچے ہو،

then why do you not, if you are exempt from the reckoning and recompense (punishment, etc.)
اب اگر تم کسی کے محکوم نہیں ہو اور اپنے اِس خیال میں سچے ہو،

those who believe in god and the last day will never ask you to exempt them from striving with their wealth and their lives, god best knows the righteous,
اللہ پر اور قیامت کے دن پر ایمان ویقین رکھنے والے تو مالی اور جانی جہاد سے رک رہنے کی کبھی بھی تجھ سے اجازت طلب نہیں کریں گے، اور اللہ تعالیٰ پرہیزگاروں کو خوب جانتا ہے

the blameworthy ones are those who ask for exemption despite their ability and who preferred to stay at home with those who are truly exempt. god has placed a seal on their hearts but they do not know.
(الزام کی) راہ تو فقط ان لوگوں پر ہے جو آپ سے رخصت طلب کرتے ہیں حالانکہ وہ مال دار ہیں، وہ اس بات سے خوش ہیں کہ وہ پیچھے رہ جانے والی عورتوں اور معذوروں کے ساتھ رہیں اور اللہ نے ان کے دلوں پر مہر لگا دی ہے، سو وہ جانتے ہی نہیں (کہ حقیقی سود و زیاں کیا ہے)،

and (remember) the day on which the trumpet will be blown and all who are in the heavens and all who are on the earth, will be terrified except him whom allah will (exempt). and all shall come to him humbled.
اور جس دن صور پھونکا جائے گا تو جوکوئی آسمان میں ہے اور جو کوئی زمین میں ہے سب ہی گھبرائیں گے مگر جسے الله چاہے اور سب اس کے پاس عاجز ہو کر چلے آئیں گے
