giving its fruit at every season, by the command of the lord. and allah propoundeth similitudes for mankind that haply they may be admonished.
அது தன்னுடைய இறைவனின் அனுமதியைக் கொண்டு ஒவ்வொரு காலத்திலும் தன்னுடைய கனியைக் கொடுத்துக் கொண்டே இருக்கிறது மக்கள் நல்லுணர்வு பெரும் பொருட்டு அல்லாஹ் (இத்தகைய) உதாரணங்களைக் கூறுகிறான்.

and he propoundeth for us a similitude, and forgetteth his creation, he saith: who shall quicken the bones when they are decayed?
மேலும், அவன் தன் படைப்பை (தான் படைக்கப்பட்டதெப்படி என்பதை) மறந்துவிட்டு, அவன் நமக்காக ஓர் உதாரணத்தையும் கூறுகின்றான்; "எலும்புகள் அவை மக்கிப் போய் விட்ட பின் அவற்றை உயிர்ப்பிப்பது யார்?" என்று.

allah is the light of the heavens and the earth: the likeness of his light is as a niche wherein is a lamp; the lamp is in glass; the glass is as though it were a star brilliant; lit from a tree blest, an olive, neither in the east nor in the west; well-nigh its oil would glow forth even though fire touch it not. light upon light. allah guideth unto his light whomsoever he will: and allah propoundeth similitudes for mankind: verily allah is of everything the knower.
அல்லாஹ் வானங்கள் பூமிக்கு ஒளி (ஏற்படுத்துபவன்) அவன் (ஏற்படுத்தும்) ஒளிக்கு உவமை விளக்கு வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ள மாடம் போன்றதாகும். அவ்விளக்கு ஒரு கண்ணாடி(க் குவி)யில் இருக்கிறது அக் கண்ணாடி ஒளிவீசம் நட்சத்திரத்தைப் போன்றதாகும். அது பாக்கியம் பெற்ற ஜைத்தூன் மரத்தி(ன் எண்ணெயி)னால் எறிக்கப் படுகிறது. அது கீழ்த்திசையை சேர்ந்ததுமன்று மேல்திசையை சேர்ந்ததுமன்று. அதனை நெருப்புத் தீண்டாவிடினும், அதன் எண்ணெய் ஒளி வீச முற்படும், (இவை எல்லாம் சேர்ந்து) ஒளிக்கு மேல் ஒளியாகும். அல்லாஹ் தான் நாடியவரை தன்னுடைய ஒளி (என்னும் சத்தியப்பாதை)யின் பால் நடத்திச் செல்கிறான். மனிதர்களுக்கு இத்தகைய உவமைகளை அல்லாஹ் தெளிவுபடுத்துகிறான். அல்லாஹ் யாவற்றையும் நன்கு அறிபவன்.
