the sabbath

ke kaloku wayefundisa kwenye yezindlu zesikhungu ngayo isabatha.
and he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.

wayesithi kubo, isabatha le yabakho ngenxa yomntu, asingumntu owabakhoyo ngenxa yesabatha.
and he said unto them, the sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

oonyana bakasirayeli mabayigcine ke isabatha, bayenze isabatha kwizizukulwana zabo: ingumnqophiso ongunaphakade.
wherefore the children of israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant.

or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

and madest known unto them thy holy sabbath, and commandedst them precepts, statutes, and laws, by the hand of moses thy servant:

thetha koonyana bakasirayeli, uthi kubo, xa nithe nafika kulo ilizwe endininika lona, ilizwe elo ke lophumla isabatha kuyehova.
speak unto the children of israel, and say unto them, when ye come into the land which i give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the lord.

ke umnyaka wesixhenxe woba yisabatha yesabatha kulo ilizwe, isabatha kuyehova. uze ungayihlwayeli intsimi yakho, ungasitheni isidiliya sakho;
but in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the lord: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.

isabatha yalo ilizwe yoba kukudla kuni, kuwe nakwisicaka sakho, nakwisicakakazi sakho, nakumqeshwa wakho, nakolundwendwe kuwe, nakophambukele kuwe,
and the sabbath of the land shall be meat for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee,

wosebenza imihla emithandathu; ke umhla wesixhenxe woba yingcwele kuni, isabatha kasabatha kuyehova; bonke abenza umsebenzi ngayo bobulawa.
six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to the lord: whosoever doeth work therein shall be put to death.

niyigcine isabatha, kuba ingcwele kuni. lowo uyihlambelayo wobulawa afe; kuba bonke abo basebenza umsebenzi ngayo, loo miphefumlo yonqanyulwa, ingabikho ebantwini bakowayo.
ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.

hayi, uyolo lomntu okwenzayo oku, nonyana womntu obambelela kuko oku; ogcina isabatha ukuba angayihlambeli; ogcina isandla sakhe ukuba singenzi nanye into embi.
blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.

babesithi ngoko abathile bakubafarisi, lo mntu asingowakwathixo, ngokuba isabatha akayigcini. babesithi abanye, angathini na umntu ongumoni ukwenza imiqondiso engakanana? bathi qheke kubini.
therefore said some of the pharisees, this man is not of god, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. others said, how can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? and there was a division among them.

also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the lord, to serve him, and to love the name of the lord, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;

amayuda ngoko, ukuze imizimba ingahlali emnqamlezweni ngesabatha, ekubeni yayiyimini yokulungiselela isabatha (kuba loo sabatha ibingumhla omkhulu), acela kupilato ukuba imilenze yabo yaphulwe, basuswe.
the jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
