ɣef wayen yellan d lḥeqq imi tedduɣ ɣer baba yerna ur tețțuɣalem ara a yi-twalim ;

but because i have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart.
imi i wen-d-nniɣ akka, leḥzen yeččuṛ ulawen-nwen.

not because i desire a gift: but i desire fruit that may abound to your account.
mačči ɣef lweɛda i țnadiɣ, meɛna țnadiɣ ɣef lfayda tameqqrant ara yilin di nnfeɛ-nwen.

therefore doth my father love me, because i lay down my life, that i might take it again.
baba iḥemmel-iyi imi țsebbileɣ tudert-iw meɛna syin akkin a ț-id-rreɣ.

is it not lawful for me to do what i will with mine own? is thine eye evil, because i am good?
