بھلا تم نے ان لوگوں کو نہیں دیکھا جن کو کتاب (خدا یعنی تورات سے) بہرہ دیا گیا اور وہ (اس) کتاب الله کی طرف بلائے جاتے ہیں تاکہ وہ (ان کے تنازعات کا) ان میں فیصلہ کر دے تو ایک فریق ان میں سے کج ادائی کے ساتھ منہ پھیر لیتا ہے

if thou wert in doubt as to what we have revealed unto thee, then ask those who have been reading the book from before thee: the truth hath indeed come to thee from thy lord: so be in no wise of those in doubt.
(اے سننے والے!) اگر تو اس (کتاب) کے بارے میں ذرا بھی شک میں مبتلا ہے جو ہم نے (اپنے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم کی وساطت سے) تیری طرف اتاری ہے تو (اس کی حقانیت کی نسبت) ان لوگوں سے دریافت کرلے جو تجھ سے پہلے (اللہ کی) کتاب پڑھ رہے ہیں۔ بیشک تیری طرف تیرے رب کی جانب سے حق آگیا ہے، سو تُو شک کرنے والوں میں سے ہرگز نہ ہوجانا،

o followers of the book! indeed our apostle has come to you making clear to you much of what you concealed of the book and passing over much; indeed, there has come to you light and a clear book from allah;
اے اہل کتاب تمہارے پاس ہمارا رسول آچکا ہے جو اُن میں سے بہت سی باتوں کی وضاحت کررہا ہے جن کو تم کتاب هخدا میں سے چھاَپا رہے تھے اور بہت سی باتوں سے درگزر بھی کرتا ہے تمہارے پاس خدا کی طرف سے نور اور روشن کتاب آچکی ہے

and when the book from allah (the holy qu’ran) came to them, which confirms the book in their possession (the taurat / torah) – and before that they used to seek victory through the medium of this very prophet (mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) over the disbelievers; so when the one whom they fully recognised (the holy prophet) came to them, they turned disbelievers – therefore allah’s curse is upon the disbelievers.
