(82) however, middle east countries are currently investing in naphta-based ethylene glycol capacity. new production capacity of meg is expected to become operational in the short term in kuwait (with participation of dow chemical), saudi arabia and iran. given the fact that naphta is an oil-based material, these countries will have a clear comparative advantage in terms of cost. it is therefore reasonable to expect that the meg price will go down in the short term and, that us producers will have reduced possibilities to sell meg in particular in asia, where the chinese textile and polyester activities already take more than 30% of worldwide meg consumption. this would be the case in particular for one of the non-cooperating exporting producers which is currently an important exporter of meg to asia. as a consequence, it can be expected that the us producers would turn towards the production of more ethanolamine, thereby exerting a downward pressure on prices and creating a need to find additional clients outside of the us domestic market and thus resorting to the community market.
(82) země středního východu však v současnosti zkoumají kapacitu ethylenglykolu na bázi nafty. předpokládá se, že v brzké době budou uvedeny do provozu nové kapacity pro výrobu meg v kuvajtu (za spoluúčasti dow chemical), saúdské arábii a Íránu. jelikož nafta je ropný materiál, skýtá to těmto zemím z nákladového hlediska zjevnou komparativní výhodu. lze proto očekávat, že cena meg v krátké době poklesne a že výrobci v usa budou mít méně možností prodávat meg zejména v asii, kde se čínský textilní průmysl a výroba polyesterů již v současnosti podílí na světové spotřebě meg více než z 30%. tomu by tak bylo zejména u jednoho z nespolupracujících vyvážejících výrobců, který je v současnosti významným vývozcem meg do asie. proto lze očekávat, že výrobci v usa by se přeorientovali spíše na výrobu ethanolaminu, čímž by se vyvolal tlak na snižování cen a potřeba nalézt další odběratele mimo domácí trh usa, tedy i na trhu společenství.
