บรรดาผู้ศรัทธาทั้งหลาย! จงรักษาบรรดาสัญญา ให้ครบถ้วนเถิด สัตว์ประเภทปศุสัตว์ นั้นได้ถูกอนุมัติแก่พวกเจ้าแล้ว นอกจากที่จุถูกอ่านให้พวกเจ้าฟัง โดยที่พวกเจ้ามิใช่ผู้ที่ให้สัตว์ที่จะถูกล่านั้น เป็นที่อนุมัติขณะที่พวกเจ้าอยู่ในอิหรอม แท้จริงอัลลอฮ์นั้นทรงชี้ขาดตามที่พระองค์ทรงประสงค์
and if we had willed, we could have elevated him thereby, but he adhered [instead] to the earth and followed his own desire. so his example is like that of the dog: if you chase him, he pants, or if you leave him, he [still] pants. that is the example of the people who denied our signs. so relate the stories that perhaps they will give thought.
“และหากเราประสงค์แล้ว แน่นอนเราก็ยกเขาขึ้นและ ด้วยบรรดาโองการเหล่านั้น แต่ทว่าเขาคงมั่นอยู่กับดิน และปฏิบัติตามความใคร่ใฝ่ต่ำของเขา ดังนั้นอุปมาของผู้นั้น จึงดั่งอุปไมยของสุนัขหากเจ้าขับไล่มัน มันก็จะหอบแลบลิ้นห้อยลง นั่นแหละคือ อุปมากลุ่มชนที่ปฏิเสธบรรดาโองการของเรา ดังนั้นเจ้าจงเล่าเรื่องราวเหล่านั้นเถิด เพื่อว่าพวกเขาจะไดใคร่ครวญ”
