and certainly we have explained in this quran every kind of example, and man is most of all given to contention.
และเราได้ชี้แจงแก่มนุษย์ในอัลกรุอานนี้แต่ละตัวอย่าง แต่มนุษย์นั้นชอบโต้เถียงในเรื่องต่างๆ เป็นส่วนใหญ่

the beginning of strife is as when one letteth out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.

และเรามิได้ส่งบรรดาร่อซูลมาเพื่ออื่นใดเว้นแต่เป็นผู้แจ้งข่าวดีและเป็นผู้ตักเตือน และบรรดาผู้ปฏิเสธศรัทธาจะโต้แย้งด้วยความเท็จ เพื่อทำลายล้างสัจธรรมด้วยมัน (ความเท็จ) และพวกเขายึดเอาโองการทั้งหลายของข้าและสิ่งที่ถูกตักเตือนเป็นการล้อเลียน

and those who contend respecting the religion of allah after it hath been acknowledged, their contention is void in the sight of their lord, and upon them shall befall wrath, and theirs shall be a severe torment.
ส่วนบรรดาผู้โต้แย้งเกี่ยวกับ (ศาสนาของ) อัลลอฮฺหลังจาก (ศาสนานั้น) ได้เป็นที่ยอมรับแล้ว การโต้แย้งของพวกเขาปราศจากเหตุผลในทัศนะของพระเจ้าของพวกเขา และพวกเขาจะได้รับความกริ้วโกรธ และพวกเขาจะได้รับการลงโทษอย่างสาหัส

so have we made the (qur'an) easy in thine own tongue, that with it thou mayest give glad tidings to the righteous, and warnings to people given to contention.

(some) say: (they are) three, the fourth of them being their dog; and (others) say: five, the sixth of them being their dog, making conjectures at what is unknown; and (others yet) say: seven, and the eighth of them is their dog. say: my lord best knows their number, none knows them but a few; therefore contend not in the matter of them but with an outward contention, and do not question concerning them any of them.
