Հրեաները քարեր վերցրին, որ նրան քարկոծեն:
then the jews took up stones again to stone him.

Եւ հրեաները Յիսուսին հալածում էին նրա համար, որ շաբաթ օրով էր անում այդ բաները:
and therefore did the jews persecute jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.

Հրեաները զարմանում էին ու ասում. «Սա ինչպէ՞ս գիտէ Գրուածքները, քանի որ բնաւ չի սովորել»:

որովհետեւ փարիսեցիները եւ բոլոր հրեաները, եթէ ձեռքները մի լաւ չլուանան, հաց չեն ուտում, քանի որ հների աւանդութիւնը պահում են:

Հրեաները նրան ասացին. «Քառասունվեց տարում շինուեց այս տաճարը, իսկ դու երե՞ք օրում այն վերականգնում ես»:

Եւ Յովհաննէսի վկայութիւնը այս է. երբ հրեաները Երուսաղէմից քահանաներ ու ղեւտացիներ ուղարկեցին նրա մօտ, որպէսզի հարցնեն նրան՝ դու ո՞վ ես,
and this is the record of john, when the jews sent priests and levites from jerusalem to ask him, who art thou?

Դրա համար հրեաները առաւել եւս ուզում էին նրան սպանել, որովհետեւ ոչ միայն չէր պահում շաբաթը, այլ նաեւ Աստծուն կոչում էր իր Հայրը եւ իր անձը Աստծուն հաւասար էր դասում:
therefore the jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that god was his father, making himself equal with god.

Հրեաները իրար հետ բուռն կերպով վիճում էին եւ ասում. «Սա ինչպէ՞ս կարող է իր մարմինը մեզ տալ՝ ուտելու»:
the jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, how can this man give us his flesh to eat?

Աշակերտները նրան ասացին. «Ռաբբի՛, հրեաները դեռ նոր էին ուզում քեզ քարկոծել, եւ նորից այնտե՞ղ ես գնում»:
his disciples say unto him, master, the jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?

Հրեաները ասացին. «Միթէ անձնասպանութեա՞ն կը դիմի, քանի որ ասում է, թէ՝ ուր ես եմ գնում, դուք չէք կարող գալ»:
then said the jews, will he kill himself? because he saith, whither i go, ye cannot come.

Իսկ այն հրեաները, որ նրա հետ տանն էին եւ նրան մխիթարում էին, երբ տեսան Մարիամին, որ վեր կացաւ իսկոյն ու գնաց, իրենք եւս նրա յետեւից գնացին. կարծում էին, թէ գերեզման է գնում, որ այնտեղ լաց լինի:
the jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, she goeth unto the grave to weep there.
