Այն ժամանակ Յիսուսին մօտեցան փարիսեցիներ ու օրէնսգէտներ, որոնք Երուսաղէմից էին, եւ ասացին.
then came to jesus scribes and pharisees, which were of jerusalem, saying,

Երբ քահանայապետները եւ օրէնսգէտներ ու փարիսեցիներ նրա առակները լսեցին, իմացան, որ իրենց համար ասաց:
and when the chief priests and pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.

Եւ աշակերտների մօտ գալով՝ նրանց շուրջը տեսաւ մեծ բազմութիւն եւ օրէնսգէտներ, որոնք վիճում էին նրանց հետ:
and when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude about them, and the scribes questioning with them.

Դրա համար ահա ես ձեզ մօտ ուղարկում եմ մարգարէներ, իմաստուններ ու օրէնսգէտներ. նրանցից ոմանց դուք պիտի սպանէք եւ խաչը պիտի հանէք. նրանցից ոմանց էլ պիտի տանջէք ձեր ժողովարաններում ու քաղաքից քաղաք պիտի հալածէք,
wherefore, behold, i send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city:

«Ահա ելնում ենք Երուսաղէմ. եւ մարդու Որդին պիտի մատնուի քահանայապետներին ու օրէնսգէտներին, եւ նրան մահուան պիտի դատապարտեն ու հեթանոսներին պիտի յանձնեն.
saying, behold, we go up to jerusalem; and the son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the gentiles:
