when your work is done , turn to devotion .
በጨረስክም ጊዜ ልፋ ፡ ፡ ( ቀጥል ) ፡ ፡

on which the heaven will split apart , and his promise is done .
ሰማዩ በርሱ ( በዚያ ቀን ) ተሰንጣቂ ነው ፡ ፡ ቀጠሮው ተፈጻሚ ነው ፡ ፡

we command but once : our will is done in the twinkling of an eye ;
ትእዛዛችንም እንደ ዓይን ቅጽበት አንዲት ( ቃል ) እንጅ ሌላ አይደለም ፡ ፡

but how will it be when the angels cause them to die smiting their backs .
መላእክትም ፊቶቻቸውንና ጀርባዎቻቸውን የሚመቱ ሲኾኑ በገደሉዋቸው ጊዜ ( ኹኔታቸው ) እንዴት ይኾናል ?

nor will it be open to them to put forth pleas .
ይቅርታም ይጠይቁ ዘንድ ፤ ለእነርሱ አይፈቀድላቸውም ፡ ፡

and the servant said, lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room.
ባሪያውም። ጌታ ሆይ፥ እንዳዘዝኸኝ ተደርጎአል፥ ገናም ስፍራ አለ አለው።

they ask thee of the hour : when will it come to port ?
« ከሰዓቲቱ መቼ ነው መኾኛዋ ? » ሲሉ ይጠይቁሃል ፡ ፡

except what is done in obedience to god with a submissive heart .
ወደ አላህ በንጹህ ልብ የመጣ ሰው ቢኾን እንጅ ፡ ፡ »

then how will it be when the angels take their souls , beating them on their faces and their backs ,
መላእክትም ፊቶቻቸውንና ጀርባዎቻቸውን የሚመቱ ሲኾኑ በገደሉዋቸው ጊዜ ( ኹኔታቸው ) እንዴት ይኾናል ?

and whatever good they do - never will it be removed from them . and allah is knowing of the righteous .
ከበጎ ሥራ ማንኛውንም ቢሠሩ አይካዱትም ፡ ፡ አላህም ጥንቁቆቹን ዐዋቂ ነው ፡ ፡

and those who , when an oppressive wrong is done to them , they take revenge .
ለእነዚያም በደል በደረሰባቸው ጊዜ እነርሱ ( በመሰሉ ) የሚመልሱ ለኾኑት ( በላጭና ኗሪ ነው ) ፡ ፡

all that we say to a thing , when we will it , is to say to it ‘ be ! ’ and it is .
ለማንኛውም ነገር ( መኾኑን ) በሻነው ጊዜ ቃላችን ለእርሱ « ኹን » ማለት ብቻ ነው ፤ ወዲውም ይኾናል ፡ ፡

( many ) will it bring low ; ( many ) will it exalt ;
ዝቅ አድራጊና ከፍ አድራጊ ናት ፡ ፡

unless god wills it to be otherwise . he knows all that is made public and all that remains hidden .
አላህ ከሻው ነገር በስተቀር ፡ ፡ እርሱ ግልጹን የሚሸሸገውንም ሁሉ ያውቃልና ፡ ፡

and say , " exaltations be to our lord ! the promise of our lord is done . '
ይላሉም « ጌታችን ጥራት ይገባው ! እነሆ የጌታችን ተስፋ ተፈጻሚ ነው ፡ ፡ »

but you cannot will it unless god wills [ to show you that way ] -- god is indeed all-knowing and wise --
አላህም ካልሻ በስተቀር አትሹም ፡ ፡ አላህ ዐዋቂ ጥበበኛ ነውና ፡ ፡

abiding in this ( state ) , and evil will it be for them to bear on the day of resurrection ;
በእርሱ ውስጥ ዘውታሪዎች ኾነው ( ይሸከማሉ ) ፡ ፡ በትንሣኤም ቀን ለእነሱ የኾነው ሸክም ከፋ !

he shall say , ' how long have you tarried in the earth , by number of years ? '
« በምድር ውስጥ ከዓመታት ቁጥር ስንትን ቆያችሁ » ይላቸዋል ፡ ፡

and never will it benefit you that day , when you have wronged , that you are [ all ] sharing in the punishment .
ስለ በደላችሁም ዛሬ እናንተ በቅጣት ተጋሪዎች መኾናችሁ አይጠቅማችሁም ፤ ( ይባላሉ ) ፡ ፡
