(house of artists dresden) the künstlerhaus is one of the oldest art nouveau buildings in dresden. in 1897/98, martin pietzsch, a local architect from loschwitz, had built it as a residential house for painters and sculptors with 16 apartments and studios. at present, it consists of 13 apartments and 17 studios – as the only functional building of this kind all over dresden. another noteworthy feature is, besides the distinctive architecture, a large 350 m² housetop platform. the house was workplace to artists like the painters hermann prell, jospeh hegenbart, the sculptor sascha schneider and others.
das künstlerhaus dresden gehört zu den frühesten jugendstil-bauwerken dresdens. der loschwitzer architekt martin pietzsch errichtete die großzügige villa in den jahren 1897/98 als wohnhaus für maler und bildhauer mit 16 wohnungen und ateliers. als einziger zweckbau dieser art in sachsen beherbergt es mittlerweile 13 wohnungen und 17 ateliers. eine weitere besonderheit ist, neben der eigenwilligen architektur, die 350 m² große dachplattform. das künstlerhaus wurde z.b. von den malern hermann prell, joseph hegenbarth sowie dem bildhauer sascha schneider genutzt.
