dixitque populus ad iosue domino deo nostro serviemus oboedientes praeceptis eiu
and the people said unto joshua, the lord our god will we serve, and his voice will we obey.

sed in deo patris sui et perrexit in praeceptis illius et non iuxta peccata israhe

et exacerbaverunt me filii in praeceptis meis non ambulaverunt et iudicia mea non custodierunt ut facerent ea quae cum fecerit homo vivet in eis et sabbata mea violaverunt et comminatus sum ut effunderem furorem meum super eos et implerem iram meam in eis in desert
notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then i said, i would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.
