མ་ཁོ་བོས་ཁྱོད་བསད་དོ། །

he went to his mother, who asked,
དེ་མའི་གན་དུ་སོང་བ་དང་མས་སྨྲས་པ།

“father, mother, please listen.
ཡབ་ཡུམ་དག་མཁྱེན་པར་མཛོད་ཅིག །

the monk who had killed his mother thought,
དེས་བསམས་པ།

“father, mother, where is upatiṣya?”
ཡབ་ཡུམ་བྲམ་ཟེའི་ཁྱེའུ་ཉེ་རྒྱལ་གར་མཆིས།

his mother went to the court scribe and said,
དེའི་མ་ཡིག་དཔོན་གྱི་གན་དུ་སོང་སྟེ་ཕྱིན་ནས་སྨྲས་པ།

he replied, ‘father, mother, i am he.
དེས་སྨྲས་པ། ཡབ་ཡུམ་དེ་ནི་བདག་ཉིད་ལགས་ཏེ།

it is the right time and the mother is ovulating;
མ་དུས་ལ་བབ་ཅིང་ཟླ་མཚན་དང་ལྡན་པ་དང་།

as a mother holds dear and protects her only child,
ཇི་ལྟར་མ་ནི་བུ་སྡུག་གཅིག་པུ་ལ། །རྟོག་ཅིང་དེ་སྲོག་སྲུང་བར་བྱེད་པ་ལྟར།

his mother asked him, “son, why are you crying?”
མས་དེ་ལ་སྨྲས་པ། བུ་ཁྱོད་ཅིའི་ཕྱིར་ངུ་།

if we used those specks to produce all the dirt on the earth,
དེ་དག་དོགས་ལ་གནས་པའི་རྡུལ་དག་དང་བསྐྲུན་ན་

reducing his body to that of a mere skeleton, he asked his mother,
དེས་དེ་རུས་པའི་ཀེང་རུས་ཙམ་ཞིག་ལུས་པར་བྱས་པ་དང་དེས་མ་ལ་སྨྲས་པ།

he entered his mother’s womb as the earth shook and this world
ཡུམ་གྱི་ལྷུམས་སུ་ཞུགས་པ་དེའི་ཚེ་ན་ས་ཆེན་པོ་ཤིན་ཏུ་གཡོས་པར་གྱུར་ཅིང་འཇིག་རྟེན་འདི་

“sentient beings equal in number to the particles of dirt on the earth
ས་ལ་གནས་པའི་རྡུལ་དག་ཇི་སྙེད་པ་དེ་སྙེད་ཀྱི་སེམས་ཅན་དག་ནི་

eventually leading him back to his mother, to whom the lad’s friend said,
མའི་གན་དུ་ཁྲིད་ནས་སྨྲས་པ།
