और यह बात भी सही है दया धर्म का मूल है, ऐसा कहा है। लेकिन धर्म का मूल कहा है अध्यात्म का मूल नहीं कहा है। मोक्षमार्ग का मूल नहीं कहा है। आत्मा प्राप्त करने का मूल नहीं कहा है। दया से धर्म की शुरूआत होती है ऐसे करते-करते बहुत समय के बाद जब आत्मा प्राप्त होता है तब उसके बाद करुणा आती है। सिर्फ दया से आत्मा प्राप्त नहीं हो जाता आत्मा की प्राप्ति तो अलग ही बात है। अनेक सदगुणों में से दया भी एक सदगुण है। धर्म में आगे बढ़ने के लिए पात्रता तैयार करने के लिए सारे जो सद्व्यवहार हैं उनमें दया भी एक सद्व्यवहार है। काफी सारी चीज़ें साथ में चाहिए उनमें से दया भी एक बड़ी चीज़ है। लेकिन ज्ञानियों में तीर्थंकरों में दया नहीं होती बल्कि करुणा होती है। नाम मात्र भी दया नहीं होती।
