to increase the efficiency of geological feature recognition from hyperspectral images using wavelet based image fusion. hyperspectral satellite sensors provide images of the earth’s surface in multiple spectral bands. geographical terrains are classified from hyper spectral images (hsi) using image processing techniques. high dimensions of hsi cause redundancy, which may be reduced by performing image fusion. pixel based fusion is carried out in wavelet domain. genetic algorithm is used for optimization. recursive filter is used for noise removal and image smoothening. support vector machines (svm) is used for automatic classification. the classified result of support vector machine is compared with adaboost classifier. the work has been implemented in matlab.
