זמם רשע לצדיק וחרק עליו שניו׃
the wicked plotteth against the just, and gnasheth upon him with his teeth.

צופה רשע לצדיק ומבקש להמיתו׃
the wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.

ארח לצדיק מישרים ישר מעגל צדיק תפלס׃
the way of the just is uprightness: thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just.

לא יאנה לצדיק כל און ורשעים מלאו רע׃
there shall no evil happen to the just: but the wicked shall be filled with mischief.

טוב ינחיל בני בנים וצפון לצדיק חיל חוטא׃
a good man leaveth an inheritance to his children's children: and the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.

גם ענוש לצדיק לא טוב להכות נדיבים על ישר׃
also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.

השלך על יהוה יהבך והוא יכלכלך לא יתן לעולם מוט לצדיק׃
cast thy burden upon the lord, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

מכנף הארץ זמרת שמענו צבי לצדיק ואמר רזי לי רזי לי אוי לי בגדים בגדו ובגד בוגדים בגדו׃
from the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. but i said, my leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously.

באמרי לצדיק חיה יחיה והוא בטה על צדקתו ועשה עול כל צדקתו לא תזכרנה ובעולו אשר עשה בו ימות׃
when i shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.

הכל כאשר לכל מקרה אחד לצדיק ולרשע לטוב ולטהור ולטמא ולזבח ולאשר איננו זבח כטוב כחטא הנשבע כאשר שבועה ירא׃
all things come alike to all: there is one event to the righteous, and to the wicked; to the good and to the clean, and to the unclean; to him that sacrificeth, and to him that sacrificeth not: as is the good, so is the sinner; and he that sweareth, as he that feareth an oath.
