նա խոստովանեց առանց վարանելու. խոստովանեց, թէ՝ ես Քրիստոսը չեմ:
and he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, i am not the christ.

Եւ մենք հաւատացինք եւ ճանաչեցինք, որ դու ես Քրիստոսը՝ Աստծու Որդին»:
and we believe and are sure that thou art that christ, the son of the living god.

Այն ժամանակ խստիւ պատուիրեց աշակերտներին, որ ոչ ոքի չասեն, թէ ինքն է Քրիստոսը:
then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was jesus the christ.

Այն ժամանակ եթէ մէկը ձեզ ասի՝ ահա՛ Քրիստոսը այստեղ է կամ այնտեղ, չհաւատաք նրան.
then if any man shall say unto you, lo, here is christ, or there; believe it not.

Դուք ինքներդ էք վկայում ինձ, որ ձեզ ասացի. ես Քրիստոսը չեմ, այլ ուղարկուած եմ նրա առաջից:
ye yourselves bear me witness, that i said, i am not the christ, but that i am sent before him.

Ամբողջ ժողովուրդը զարմացաւ եւ ասում էր. «Միթէ սա՞ է Քրիստոսը՝ Դաւթի Որդին»:
and all the people were amazed, and said, is not this the son of david?

որովհետեւ շատեր պիտի գան իմ անունով եւ պիտի ասեն՝ ե՛ս եմ Քրիստոսը, եւ շատերին պիտի մոլորեցնեն:
for many shall come in my name, saying, i am christ; and shall deceive many.

Այն ժամանակ եթէ մէկը ձեզ ասի, թէ՝ «Ահա՛ այստեղ է Քրիստոսը կամ այնտեղ», չհաւատաք.
and then if any man shall say to you, lo, here is christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:

«Եկէք տեսէ՛ք մի մարդու, որ ինձ ասաց այն բոլորը, ինչ արել եմ. արդեօք նա՞ է Քրիստոսը»:
come, see a man, which told me all things that ever i did: is not this the christ?

Իսկ կախուած չարագործներից մէկը հայհոյում էր նրան եւ ասում. «Դու չե՞ս Քրիստոսը. փրկի՛ր ինքդ քեզ եւ մեզ»:
and one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, if thou be christ, save thyself and us.

Այդ Քրիստոսը՝ Իսրայէլի այդ թագաւորը, թող այժմ իջնի խաչից, որպէսզի տեսնենք եւ հաւատանք դրան»: Եւ նրա հետ խաչուածներն էլ նախատում էին նրան:
let christ the king of israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. and they that were crucified with him reviled him.

Սակայն բազմութեան միջից շատերը հաւատացին նրան եւ ասում էին. «Երբ Քրիստոսը գայ, միթէ աւելի՞ նշաններ պիտի անի, քան սա է անում»:
and many of the people believed on him, and said, when christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?

Հրեաները նրա շուրջը հաւաքուեցին ու ասացին. «Մինչեւ ե՞րբ մեր հոգին պիտի հանես. եթէ դու ես Քրիստոսը, համարձակ ասա՛ մեզ»:
then came the jews round about him, and said unto him, how long dost thou make us to doubt? if thou be the christ, tell us plainly.

«Ի՞նչ կարծիք ունէք Քրիստոսի մասին, ո՞ւմ որդին է»: Նրան ասացին՝ Դաւթի:
saying, what think ye of christ? whose son is he? they say unto him, the son of david.
