we do indeed know how your heart is distressed at what they say.
waxaana ognahay laabtaadu inay ka cidhiidhyami waxay sheegi (oo xun).

have you not considered how your lord dealt with the possessors of the elephant?
ma ogtahay sida eeba ku falay asaxaabtii maroodiga «colkii».

(muhammad), consider how your lord dealt with the tribe of ad,
ma ku soo gaadhay sida eebahaa ku falay caad.

have you not regarded how your lord dealt with [the people of] ‘ad,
ma ku soo gaadhay sida eebahaa ku falay caad.

the greatest terror shall not grieve them, and the angels shall receive them: 'this is your day that you were promised.'
mana walbahaariyo argagaxii waynaa, waxayna kula kulmi malaa'igtu kani waa maalintiinnii ah tii laydiin yaboohay.

do you not see how your lord stretches the shadow? had it been his will, he could have made it constant. then he appointed the sun to be a guide to it;
miyeydaan ogayn sida eebe u fidiyo hadhka, hadduu doonana wuxuu ka yeeli lahaa mid xasillan (taagan) markaasaan ugu yeellay qorraxda korkiisa daliil (xujo).

have you not considered, [o muhammad], how your lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?
ma ogtahay sida eeba ku falay asaxaabtii maroodiga «colkii».

so now suffer. as you forgot the meeting of this your day of doom, so have we forgotten you. now taste the everlasting punishment for your deeds.
ee dhadhamiya halmaanshihiinii la kulanka maalintiinnan (qiyame) annaguna waan idinka tagaynaa (maanta) ee dhadhamiya cadaabka waaridda camalkiinii dartiis.

and it shall be said, 'today we do forget you, even as you forgot the encounter of this your day; and your refuge is the fire, and you shall have no helpers.
waxaana loo dhihi maanta (qiyaamada) waanu idinka tagi (idinko cadaaban) sidaad u halmaanteen la kulanka maalintiinan, hooygiinuna waa naar wax idiin gargaarana ma jiro.

have you not seen how your lord lengthens out the shadow? had he willed, he would have made it constant, but we have made the sun its pilot;
miyeydaan ogayn sida eebe u fidiyo hadhka, hadduu doonana wuxuu ka yeeli lahaa mid xasillan (taagan) markaasaan ugu yeellay qorraxda korkiisa daliil (xujo).

and it will be said: today shall forget you, even as ye forgat the meeting of this your day, and your abode will be the fire, and none ye will have as helpers.
waxaana loo dhihi maanta (qiyaamada) waanu idinka tagi (idinko cadaaban) sidaad u halmaanteen la kulanka maalintiinan, hooygiinuna waa naar wax idiin gargaarana ma jiro.

'company of jinn and mankind, did not messengers come to you from among you, relating to you my signs and warning you of the encounter of this your day?' they shall say, 'we bear witness against ourselves.' they were deluded by the present life, and they bear witness against themselves that they were unbelievers.
jinni iyo insiyow miyuuna idiin imaanin rasuuloo idinka mid ah oo iddinka warrama aayaadkayga idiinkana diga la kulanka maalintan waxayna dheheen waan ku marag furray naftanada waxaana dhagartay nolosha dhaw, waxayna ku marag fureen naftooda inay gaalo ahaayeen.
