the company's history goes back to the end of the 19th century, when johann baptist winklhofer started to import bicycles from england. having set up his own bicycle factory in chemnitz, he later moved to munich where he founded iwis in 1916. "forward-looking and ground-breaking activities have always been integral to our self-image, driven by an exceptional team of employees who share and embody our fascination with motion", says johannes winklhofer, chairman of the managing board. "the never-ending search for a better solution, which the company founder's ten commandments for innovators already demanded from employees and managers alike, lies in our genes. this is also reflected in all communication with employees business partners alike, who have, over the past 100 years, helped us achieve the success that we enjoy today."
