and if their fathers had no understanding of anything, and if they were not guided?
Ҳатто агар падаронашон бехираду гумроҳ буданд.

they are those whom we gave the book, al-hukm (understanding of the religious laws), and prophethood.
Инҳо касоне ҳастанд, ки ба онҳо китобу фармон ва нубувват додаем.

of every division that marches out, let a group remain behind, to gain understanding of the religion, and to notify their people when they have returned to them, that they may beware.
Чаро аз ҳар гурӯҳе дастае ба сафар нараванд, то дониши дини хешро биёмузанд ва чун бозгаштанд, мардуми худро хушдор диҳанд, бошад, ки аз зишткорӣ ҳазар кунанд?

we gave solomon the right understanding of the matter, and we bestowed wisdom and knowledge on both of them. we caused the mountains and the birds to celebrate our praises along with david. we had the power to do this --
Ва ин шеваи довариро ба Сулаймон омӯхтем ва ҳамаро ҳукму илм додем ва кӯҳҳоро мутеъи Довуд гардонидем, ки онҳо ва паррандагон бо ӯ тасбеҳ мегуфтанд ва ин ҳама Мо кардем.

so a part of each section (of the population) should go (to fight) in order that the others may acquire understanding of law and divinity, and warn their companions on return so that they may take heed for themselves.
Чаро аз ҳар гурӯҳе дастае ба сафар нараванд, то дониши дини хешро биёмузанд ва чун бозгаштанд, мардуми худро хушдор диҳанд, бошад, ки аз зишткорӣ ҳазар кунанд?

and (remember) when allah took the covenant of the prophets, saying: "take whatever i gave you from the book and hikmah (understanding of the laws of allah, etc.), and afterwards there will come to you a messenger (muhammad saw) confirming what is with you; you must, then, believe in him and help him."
Ва Худо аз паёмбарон паймон гирифт, ки шуморо китобу ҳикмат додаам; ба паёмбаре, ки дини шуморо тасдиқ мекунад ва ба паём назди шумо меояд, имон оред ва ёриаш кунед.
