وكلم شاول يوناثان ابنه وجميع عبيده ان يقتلوا داود.
and saul spake to jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill david.

ثم عاد يوناثان واستحلف داود بمحبته له لانه احبه محبة نفسه
and jonathan caused david to swear again, because he loved him: for he loved him as he loved his own soul.

فقال شاول هكذا يفعل الله وهكذا يزيد انك موتا تموت يا يوناثان.
and saul answered, god do so and more also: for thou shalt surely die, jonathan.

فعاهد يوناثان بيت داود وقال ليطلب الرب من يد اعداء داود.
so jonathan made a covenant with the house of david, saying, let the lord even require it at the hand of david's enemies.

فاصعد من هناك عظام شاول وعظام يوناثان ابنه وجمعوا عظام المصلوبين
and he brought up from thence the bones of saul and the bones of jonathan his son; and they gathered the bones of them that were hanged.

فاجاب يوناثان وقال لادونيا بل سيدنا الملك داود قد ملّك سليمان.
and jonathan answered and said to adonijah, verily our lord king david hath made solomon king.

فصابى شاول الرمح نحوه ليطعنه فعلم يوناثان ان اباه قد عزم على قتل داود.
and saul cast a javelin at him to smite him: whereby jonathan knew that it was determined of his father to slay david.

فاعطى يوناثان سلاحه للغلام الذي له قال له اذهب. ادخل به الى المدينة.
and jonathan gave his artillery unto his lad, and said unto him, go, carry them to the city.

وخلع يوناثان الجبة التي عليه واعطاها لداود مع ثيابه وسيفه وقوسه ومنطقته.
and jonathan stripped himself of the robe that was upon him, and gave it to david, and his garments, even to his sword, and to his bow, and to his girdle.

فقل لهم اني القيت تضرعي امام الملك حتى لا يردني الى بيت يوناثان لاموت هناك.
then thou shalt say unto them, i presented my supplication before the king, that he would not cause me to return to jonathan's house, to die there.
